Which companies sponsor visas for product engineers in Washington?
Microsoft, Amazon, Google, and Meta are among the most consistent sponsors for product engineers in Washington, with large engineering organizations and established immigration support infrastructure. Mid-size technology companies like Zillow, Redfin, Tableau, and Expedia also sponsor regularly. Washington's density of software and cloud companies means product engineers have a broader pool of potential sponsors here than in most other states.
Which visa types are most common for product engineers in Washington?
The H-1B visa is the most common visa category for product engineers in Washington, as the role typically qualifies as a specialty occupation requiring at least a bachelor's degree in a related technical field. Some employers in Washington also sponsor L-1B visas for intracompany transferees. Candidates with Australian citizenship may qualify for the E-3 visa, which has no lottery and is widely accepted by Washington's large tech employers.
Which cities in Washington have the most product engineer sponsorship jobs?
Seattle and its surrounding Eastside cities, particularly Bellevue and Redmond, account for the overwhelming majority of product engineer sponsorship jobs in Washington. Redmond is home to Microsoft's global headquarters, while Amazon's core engineering teams are headquartered in Seattle's South Lake Union district. Smaller hubs in Kirkland and Bothell also have technology employers that sponsor product engineers.
How to find product engineer visa sponsorship jobs in Washington?
Migrate Mate is built specifically for international candidates searching for visa sponsorship roles, including product engineer positions in Washington. You can filter by state and job category to surface employers with a documented history of sponsoring work visas. This is more reliable than general job searches, which don't distinguish between sponsors and non-sponsors.
Are there any Washington-specific considerations for product engineers seeking visa sponsorship?
Washington has no state income tax, which affects how prevailing wage calculations interact with total compensation for H-1B purposes, since equity and bonuses are sometimes structured differently here. The University of Washington and Washington State University produce significant numbers of engineering graduates who compete for the same sponsored roles, so local talent pipelines are strong. Employers in Washington's technology sector are generally experienced with immigration processes, but sponsorship decisions still vary by role, team, and hiring cycle.
What is the prevailing wage for sponsored product engineer jobs in Washington?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
