Feeling energized to make a meaningful impact on the world? Then keep reading - you’ve come to the right place.
ROLE DESCRIPTION
Form Energy is pioneering a new class of battery technology to transform the grid. We are seeking a Senior Staff Program Manager to lead the scaling of our iron-air battery production from early concept through high-volume production. In this role you will leverage your technical depth in new product introduction (NPI) and manufacturing to set the strategic direction for equipment design, process qualification, and scaling up our manufacturing systems. You will lead and develop a team of three Technical Program Managers while setting the execution cadence, operating mechanisms, and decision frameworks that enable scalable, repeatable manufacturing. This is a chance to have a direct, hands-on impact on scaling up revolutionary, multi-day energy storage technology.
This opportunity is based out of Form Factory 1 – Form Energy’s 550,000-square-foot, state-of-the-art manufacturing facility located in Weirton, WV, a commutable distance from Pittsburgh. Purpose-built for high-volume, advanced battery production, Form Factory 1 is a hub of fast-moving, collaborative work driving a new era of large-scale American energy manufacturing in the heart of the Rust Belt.
Relocation assistance is available.
What you'll do:
- Lead cross-functional manufacturing and operations programs from concept through sustained production, including equipment design, installation, qualification, and ramp.
- Own factory NPI execution plans, aligning design, supply chain, equipment, quality, and operations to meet cost, yield, and schedule targets.
- Manage and mentor three TPMs, setting clear priorities, coaching execution rigor, and scaling program management best practices across the factory.
- Drive integrated build plans that support critical testing, rapid learning cycles, and data-driven design and process improvements.
- Partner closely with engineering, manufacturing, quality, supply chain, and facilities to resolve technical and operational risks.
- Establish and track key manufacturing readiness metrics (equipment readiness, process capability, throughput, yield, and reliability).
- Lead executive-level communication on program status, risks, tradeoffs, and decision points.
- Identify systemic gaps in manufacturing execution and implement durable solutions that scale with production growth.
What you'll bring:
- Proven Leadership: Demonstrated experience leading equipment-intensive manufacturing programs, including design, build, deployment, and qualification. People leadership experience, including managing and developing other TPMs.
- Engineering Roots: A background that likely started in Mechanical, Electrical, or Systems Engineering, with the ability to "speak the language" of the designers and the technicians on the floor.
- A Tool Evangelist: A proven track record of not just using, but implementing and scaling new methodologies - we will need someone to run an influence campaign to gain adoption.
- Process Fluency: You don't just know what the equipment does; you understand the chemical, thermal, or mechanical processes happening inside it. You can identify if a yield loss is a hardware failure or a process window issue.
- Systems Thinking: Ability to map complex dependencies across the entire "factory-as-a-product," understanding how a change in raw material specs affects high-speed automation downstream.
- Sound Judgement: Ability to operate comfortably across concept ambiguity and production rigor, balancing speed, quality, and cost.
- 9+ years of experience in technical program management, manufacturing engineering, operations, or related fields in hardware-centric environments.

Which companies sponsor visas for engineering program managers in West Virginia?
Federal contractors with a significant presence in West Virginia, including Leidos, Booz Allen Hamilton, and Northrop Grumman, have filed H-1B Labor Condition Applications for engineering program manager roles. Energy companies operating in the state, such as FirstEnergy and Appalachian Power, also periodically sponsor qualified candidates. Sponsorship availability varies by project demand and workforce planning cycles, so it's worth researching each employer's recent filing history directly.
Which visa types are most common for engineering program manager roles in West Virginia?
The H-1B is the most common visa category for engineering program managers in West Virginia, as the role typically meets the specialty occupation requirement given its reliance on engineering or technical degree credentials. The O-1A is an option for candidates with demonstrated extraordinary achievement. TN status is available to Canadian and Mexican nationals if the role aligns with an eligible USMCA occupation category.
Which cities in West Virginia have the most engineering program manager sponsorship jobs?
Charleston is the primary hub, driven by state government contracting activity and energy sector employers. Morgantown sees demand connected to West Virginia University's research programs and nearby federal facilities. Huntington has smaller but consistent activity linked to manufacturing and infrastructure projects. Fairmont and Bridgeport also attract engineering program management roles tied to aerospace and defense contractors operating near the North Central West Virginia region.
How to find engineering program manager visa sponsorship jobs in West Virginia?
Migrate Mate is built specifically for international candidates seeking visa sponsorship and filters engineering program manager roles by state, including West Virginia. Rather than sorting through general job boards, Migrate Mate surfaces positions where employers have an active history of sponsoring work visas. This saves significant time for candidates who need confirmed sponsorship willingness, not just open listings.
Are there state-specific considerations for engineering program managers pursuing sponsorship in West Virginia?
West Virginia's engineering job market is heavily influenced by federal contracting and energy infrastructure, meaning many roles require or prefer security clearance eligibility. Visa holders on H-1B status can typically apply for and hold security clearances, but the process takes time and is not guaranteed. West Virginia University's engineering programs also create local graduate pipelines that some employers draw from before sponsoring candidates internationally, so competition for sponsored roles can be selective.
What is the prevailing wage for sponsored engineering program manager jobs in West Virginia?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
