Which companies sponsor visas for engineering directors in Wisconsin?
Wisconsin's strongest sponsoring employers for engineering director roles include Rockwell Automation and Johnson Controls in Milwaukee, Epic Systems and Exact Sciences in Madison, and Oshkosh Corporation in Oshkosh. These companies operate large engineering organizations where director-level hiring is ongoing. Defense and manufacturing contractors based in the state also have established sponsorship infrastructure for senior technical leadership positions.
Which visa types are most common for engineering director roles in Wisconsin?
The H-1B is the most common visa for engineering directors in Wisconsin, as these roles qualify as specialty occupations requiring a relevant bachelor's degree or higher. Senior candidates with multinational employer backgrounds may qualify for the L-1A intracompany transferee visa. Individuals with exceptional records of technical leadership may also pursue the O-1A, though the evidentiary standard is significantly higher than for H-1B petitions.
Which cities in Wisconsin have the most engineering director sponsorship jobs?
Milwaukee and Madison account for the majority of engineering director sponsorship activity in Wisconsin. Milwaukee's industrial and automation sector anchors demand there, while Madison's concentration of health technology and software companies drives sponsorship in the capital region. Green Bay and Oshkosh have a smaller but consistent base of manufacturing and defense employers that hire at the director level.
How to find engineering director visa sponsorship jobs in Wisconsin?
Migrate Mate is built specifically for international candidates seeking visa sponsorship, and filters results by role and state so you can focus on engineering director positions in Wisconsin without sorting through employers who don't sponsor. Because director-level roles are posted less frequently than individual contributor positions, setting up alerts on Migrate Mate for Wisconsin engineering director openings helps you respond quickly when positions become available.
Are there any state-specific considerations for engineering directors seeking sponsorship in Wisconsin?
Wisconsin's engineering director market is closely tied to advanced manufacturing, medical devices, and enterprise software, industries where sponsorship at the director level is more common than in generalist sectors. The University of Wisconsin-Madison produces a significant pipeline of engineering talent, which means Wisconsin employers are generally accustomed to working with international candidates. Prevailing wage requirements for H-1B petitions apply federally and are benchmarked to the Milwaukee and Madison metropolitan area wage data for director-level engineering roles.
What is the prevailing wage for sponsored engineering director jobs in Wisconsin?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
