Which companies in Wisconsin sponsor visas for financial accountants?
Larger Wisconsin employers with established immigration programs tend to be the most active sponsors for financial accountant roles. These include Northwestern Mutual, Kohl's, Advocate Aurora Health, Johnson Controls, and Kohler Co. Public accounting firms with Wisconsin offices, such as RSM and Baker Tilly, have also sponsored international candidates. Mid-size manufacturers and insurance carriers in the Milwaukee and Green Bay areas are worth targeting as well.
What visa types are most commonly used for financial accountant roles in Wisconsin?
The H-1B is the most common visa for financial accountants in Wisconsin, as the role typically qualifies as a specialty occupation requiring at least a bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or a related field. Candidates from Canada or Mexico may qualify for TN visa status under the accountant category, which is employer-filed and not subject to an annual lottery. Australian citizens can explore the E-3 visa, which follows a similar specialty occupation standard.
Which Wisconsin cities have the most financial accountant sponsorship jobs?
Milwaukee is the primary hub, home to the largest concentration of corporate headquarters, financial services firms, and healthcare systems in the state. Madison sees demand driven by state government contractors, university-affiliated organizations, and a growing tech sector. Appleton and Green Bay, while smaller, have active manufacturing and insurance industries that hire financial accountants, and some regional employers in those areas have sponsored international workers.
How to find financial accountant visa sponsorship jobs in Wisconsin?
Migrate Mate is built specifically for international job seekers and filters financial accountant roles in Wisconsin by visa sponsorship history, so you're not sifting through listings from employers who won't sponsor. Search the Wisconsin financial accountant category on Migrate Mate to see active openings from companies that have a track record of filing H-1B or other work visa petitions, including employers in Milwaukee, Madison, and the Fox Valley region.
Are there any Wisconsin-specific factors that affect visa sponsorship for financial accountants?
Wisconsin does not impose state-level visa requirements, but the Department of Labor's prevailing wage rules still apply, meaning employers must pay market-rate compensation for the region, which varies between Milwaukee metro and smaller markets. The University of Wisconsin system produces a steady pipeline of international accounting graduates on OPT, which means some Wisconsin employers are already familiar with sponsoring recent graduates transitioning from student to work visa status.
What is the prevailing wage for sponsored financial accountant jobs in Wisconsin?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
