About the Team
The Emerging Markets team promotes growth in local economies by building meaningful partnerships with merchants across underdeveloped, high-opportunity markets. We focus on T4–T5 geographies—one of DoorDash's highest company priorities, representing over 40% of remaining restaurant opportunities as we expand beyond core cities and suburbs. Our team creates first connections with SMB restaurants and retailers, helping them grow and monetize through on-demand delivery.
This is a field sales opportunity with extensive travel within the region. You will need to live by or in proximity to a major airport.
About the Role
As a Growth Merchant Lead (GML), you will play a pivotal role in expanding DoorDash's footprint by opening new markets and bringing new restaurant partnerships onto the platform. You will own a high-velocity, in-person sales cycle and spend the majority of your time developing Tier 4-5 ("emerging") markets – some of DoorDash's largest remaining areas of opportunity. This role requires extensive travel (70%+) and is ideal for someone who is energized by building new markets from the ground up and influencing market growth directly.
You'll report to a Regional Sales Manager for the region and work cross-functionally with teams across the business. You'll join a culture that prioritizes learning, ownership, and career development, with direct access to the support and resources you need to grow to the next level.
This is a field sales role with extensive travel within the region. You will spend most of your time traveling in the region meeting with merchants, with some time working remotely. In addition, this role will require the ability to travel as needed for in-person collaboration through trainings, offsites, team-building events, and other business related necessity.
You're excited about this opportunity because you will…
- Expand DoorDash's presence by traveling to emerging markets and developing new restaurant partnerships.
- Lead end-to-end, in-person sales cycles– prospecting, pitching, negotiating, and closing.
- Sell business owners on DoorDash's value and secure revenue-share agreements.
- Consistently execute high-volume field activity and close deals within days.
- Build scalable approaches and playbooks to accelerate market expansion.
- Shape DoorDash's expansion strategy in rural economies.
- Have an outsized impact on growth in high-priority markets.
We're excited about you because…
- You have 4+ years of in-person, outside B2B sales experience (field experience is required)
- You have proven success running short, high-velocity, full sales cycles – including same-day closes.
- You have strong prospecting, hunting, and negotiation skills.
- You are energized by extensive travel – spending 70%+ of your time in the field, including overnight travel inside and outside of your home state.
- You are entrepreneurial, adaptable, and motivated building and scaling new markets.
- You have demonstrated success operating autonomously and thrive in environments where you will create the playbook, not follow one.
- You are comfortable using Salesforce, Google Workspace, and sales productivity tools.

Which companies sponsor visas for growth roles in Wisconsin?
Epic Systems in Verona and Exact Sciences in Madison are among the more active Wisconsin employers sponsoring international hires in growth-adjacent roles. Johnson Controls and Rockwell Automation have also filed work visa petitions for business and growth functions. Larger enterprises with global operations tend to have established sponsorship processes, while mid-size SaaS and health tech firms in Madison increasingly hire internationally as they scale.
Which visa types are most common for growth roles in Wisconsin?
The H-1B is the most common visa for growth roles in Wisconsin, typically covering positions like growth manager, marketing analyst, or user acquisition specialist where a relevant bachelor's degree is required. The O-1A is an option for candidates with a documented record of exceptional achievement. Some candidates already authorized through OPT or STEM OPT also fill growth roles while employers assess long-term sponsorship.
Which cities in Wisconsin have the most growth sponsorship jobs?
Madison is the leading city for growth sponsorship jobs in Wisconsin, driven by the concentration of health tech companies, SaaS startups, and the University of Wisconsin talent pipeline. Milwaukee is the second-largest market, with growth roles appearing in financial services, manufacturing technology, and consumer brands. Smaller hiring activity appears in Green Bay and Eau Claire, primarily at regional corporate offices.
How to find growth visa sponsorship jobs in Wisconsin?
Migrate Mate is built specifically for international job seekers and filters growth roles in Wisconsin by visa sponsorship history, so you're not sorting through listings from employers who don't sponsor. You can browse roles by city, company size, and visa type. Because Wisconsin's growth hiring is concentrated in Madison and Milwaukee, filtering to those metros on Migrate Mate gives you the most relevant results quickly.
Are there state-specific considerations for growth professionals seeking sponsorship in Wisconsin?
Wisconsin does not have a state-level visa program, so all sponsorship flows through federal categories like the H-1B. One practical consideration is that growth roles need to qualify as specialty occupations under H-1B rules, meaning the position must normally require a bachelor's degree in a specific field. Roles blending sales and strategy can sometimes face additional scrutiny, so job title and description alignment with your degree matters here.
What is the prevailing wage for sponsored growth jobs in Wisconsin?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
