About the Team
The Emerging Markets team promotes growth in local economies by building meaningful partnerships with merchants across underdeveloped, high-opportunity markets. We focus on T4–T5 geographies—one of DoorDash's highest company priorities, representing over 40% of remaining restaurant opportunities as we expand beyond core cities and suburbs. Our team creates first connections with SMB restaurants and retailers, helping them grow and monetize through on-demand delivery.
This is a field sales opportunity with extensive travel within the region. You will need to live by or in proximity to a major airport.
About the Role
As a Growth Merchant Lead (GML), you will play a pivotal role in expanding DoorDash's footprint by opening new markets and bringing new restaurant partnerships onto the platform. You will own a high-velocity, in-person sales cycle and spend the majority of your time developing Tier 4-5 ("emerging") markets – some of DoorDash's largest remaining areas of opportunity. This role requires extensive travel (70%+) and is ideal for someone who is energized by building new markets from the ground up and influencing market growth directly.
You'll report to a Regional Sales Manager for the region and work cross-functionally with teams across the business. You'll join a culture that prioritizes learning, ownership, and career development, with direct access to the support and resources you need to grow to the next level.
This is a field sales role with extensive travel within the region. You will spend most of your time traveling in the region meeting with merchants, with some time working remotely. In addition, this role will require the ability to travel as needed for in-person collaboration through trainings, offsites, team-building events, and other business related necessity.
You're excited about this opportunity because you will…
- Expand DoorDash's presence by traveling to emerging markets and developing new restaurant partnerships.
- Lead end-to-end, in-person sales cycles– prospecting, pitching, negotiating, and closing.
- Sell business owners on DoorDash's value and secure revenue-share agreements.
- Consistently execute high-volume field activity and close deals within days.
- Build scalable approaches and playbooks to accelerate market expansion.
- Shape DoorDash's expansion strategy in rural economies.
- Have an outsized impact on growth in high-priority markets.
We're excited about you because…
- You have 4+ years of in-person, outside B2B sales experience (field experience is required)
- You have proven success running short, high-velocity, full sales cycles – including same-day closes.
- You have strong prospecting, hunting, and negotiation skills.
- You are energized by extensive travel – spending 70%+ of your time in the field, including overnight travel inside and outside of your home state.
- You are entrepreneurial, adaptable, and motivated building and scaling new markets.
- You have demonstrated success operating autonomously and thrive in environments where you will create the playbook, not follow one.
- You are comfortable using Salesforce, Google Workspace, and sales productivity tools.

Which companies sponsor visas for partnerships leads in Wisconsin?
Milwaukee and Madison host Wisconsin's strongest concentration of visa-sponsoring employers for partnerships leads. Companies like Epic Systems, Northwestern Mutual, Kohl's corporate division, and Johnson Controls have documented H-1B visa sponsorship histories for business development and partnerships roles. Healthcare and enterprise software firms in the state tend to hire internationally for senior partnerships positions more frequently than smaller regional employers.
Which visa types are most common for partnerships lead roles in Wisconsin?
The H-1B is the most common visa category for partnerships leads in Wisconsin, provided the role qualifies as a specialty occupation requiring a relevant bachelor's degree or higher. Candidates from Canada or Mexico may qualify for the TN visa under the NAFTA/USMCA business categories. Australian citizens can explore the E-3 visa. L-1 visa transfers are also an option for international candidates moving internally within a multinational company.
Which cities in Wisconsin have the most partnerships lead sponsorship jobs?
Milwaukee accounts for the largest share of partnerships lead sponsorship activity in Wisconsin, driven by its concentration of financial services, insurance, and healthcare employers. Madison is a close second, particularly given Epic Systems' scale and the broader university-adjacent tech ecosystem. Green Bay and Appleton have a smaller but present base of corporate employers that occasionally sponsor for senior business development roles.
How to find partnerships lead visa sponsorship jobs in Wisconsin?
Migrate Mate is built specifically for international candidates searching for visa sponsorship jobs, including partnerships lead roles in Wisconsin. You can filter directly by state and role type to see employers actively hiring and sponsoring. Because partnerships lead positions vary widely in scope, searching Migrate Mate with both 'partnerships lead' and related titles like 'partner manager' or 'business development lead' will give you the most complete view of available opportunities.
Are there any state-specific considerations for partnerships leads pursuing sponsorship in Wisconsin?
Wisconsin does not impose state-level restrictions on visa sponsorship, so federal H-1B and DOL prevailing wage rules govern what employers must pay sponsored workers. For partnerships leads, the relevant DOL wage determination typically falls under business development or sales management occupational codes, and employers are required to meet the prevailing wage for the specific Milwaukee or Madison metropolitan area, not a statewide average. University partnerships programs at UW-Madison also generate some international talent pipelines into corporate partnerships roles.
What is the prevailing wage for sponsored partnerships lead jobs in Wisconsin?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
