Which companies in Wisconsin sponsor visas for project assistant roles?
Epic Systems in Verona, Exact Sciences in Madison, and the University of Wisconsin-Madison are among the more active sponsors for project assistant and project coordinator roles in Wisconsin. Large healthcare networks like Advocate Aurora Health and manufacturing firms in the Milwaukee metro also hire internationally for support and coordination roles. Sponsorship availability varies by team, budget cycle, and role classification.
Which visa types are most commonly used for project assistant jobs in Wisconsin?
The H-1B visa is the most common visa for project assistant roles in Wisconsin, though it requires the position to qualify as a specialty occupation, meaning a specific bachelor's degree must be tied to the job duties. Some university-affiliated roles may be filled through J-1 visa exchange visitor programs. International graduates on F-1 OPT can also work in these roles while pursuing longer-term sponsorship.
Which Wisconsin cities have the most project assistant sponsorship opportunities?
Madison leads the state, driven by Epic Systems, the University of Wisconsin, and a growing biotech corridor. Milwaukee is the second-largest market, with opportunities in healthcare administration, financial services, and manufacturing. Appleton and Green Bay in the Fox Valley have a smaller but steady presence through manufacturing and supply chain coordination roles with regional employers.
How to find project assistant visa sponsorship jobs in Wisconsin?
Migrate Mate filters job listings specifically by visa sponsorship availability, so you can search project assistant roles in Wisconsin without sorting through positions that don't support international candidates. The platform surfaces employers in Madison, Milwaukee, and beyond who have a track record of sponsoring. Filtering by industry, such as healthcare or tech, helps narrow results to sectors where Wisconsin sponsorship activity is highest.
Are there any Wisconsin-specific considerations for project assistant visa sponsorship?
Wisconsin's university system creates a consistent pipeline of international candidates, particularly in Madison, which means employers there are generally more experienced with visa processes than employers in smaller markets. For H-1B sponsorship, the role must meet prevailing wage requirements set by the Department of Labor for the specific county and occupation. Project assistant roles in healthcare IT and biotech tend to have stronger degree-to-role alignment, which supports specialty occupation classification.
What is the prevailing wage for sponsored project assistant jobs in Wisconsin?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
