Which technology companies in Wisconsin sponsor visas?
Epic Systems in Verona leads Wisconsin visa sponsorship, hiring hundreds of international software developers annually. Johnson Controls, Northwestern Mutual, and American Family Insurance sponsor for cybersecurity, software engineering, and data analytics roles. Smaller tech companies like Zywave, Propeller Health, and various Milwaukee fintech startups also sponsor H-1B visas for specialized technical positions.
How to find technology visa sponsorship jobs in Wisconsin?
Use Migrate Mate to search specifically for Wisconsin technology roles with confirmed visa sponsorship. Focus on Madison's Epic Systems corridor and Milwaukee's financial technology hub. Many Wisconsin tech companies don't advertise sponsorship but will consider it for qualified candidates, particularly in software development, data science, and cybersecurity specializations where talent shortages exist.
What visa types do Wisconsin technology companies typically use?
H-1B visas dominate Wisconsin technology sponsorship, particularly for software engineers and data scientists. Epic Systems and large Milwaukee employers also use L-1 visas for intracompany transfers. O-1 visas appear occasionally for senior architects or AI specialists. TN visas work well for Canadian and Mexican citizens in software development roles at Wisconsin companies.
Which Wisconsin cities have the most technology visa sponsorship opportunities?
Madison leads with Epic Systems and University of Wisconsin spin-offs creating the highest concentration of sponsored positions. Milwaukee follows with financial services technology roles at Northwestern Mutual, Johnson Controls, and emerging fintech companies. Green Bay and Appleton offer fewer but growing opportunities, particularly in manufacturing technology and healthcare IT sectors.
Are there special considerations for technology workers seeking sponsorship in Wisconsin?
Wisconsin technology prevailing wages tend to be lower than coastal markets, which can help with H-1B Labor Condition Applications. The state's strong university partnerships mean many sponsored workers transition from F-1 student status. Winter weather considerations affect relocation planning, and Wisconsin's manufacturing heritage creates unique opportunities in industrial IoT and automation technology roles.
What is the prevailing wage for sponsored technology jobs in Wisconsin?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
