Which technology companies sponsor visas in Wyoming?
Microsoft operates significant data center facilities in Cheyenne requiring technical talent. Energy companies like Anadarko Petroleum, Devon Energy, and ExxonMobil sponsor software engineers and data scientists for upstream technology roles. The University of Wyoming sponsors research positions in computer science and engineering. Emerging startups in Cheyenne and Jackson also participate in visa sponsorship programs for specialized technical roles.
How to find technology visa sponsorship jobs in Wyoming?
Use Migrate Mate to search specifically for technology positions in Wyoming that offer visa sponsorship. The platform filters opportunities by state and industry, showing roles at energy companies, data centers, and research institutions. Focus on Cheyenne and Casper where most tech employers are located, and consider both traditional tech companies and energy firms needing software development expertise.
Which visa types are most common for technology roles in Wyoming?
H-1B visas dominate technology sponsorship in Wyoming, particularly for software engineers at energy companies and data centers. O-1 visas are used for senior architects and specialists at major employers like Microsoft's operations. L-1 visas apply when international energy companies transfer technical staff to Wyoming operations. TN visas serve Canadian and Mexican professionals in qualifying technology positions.
Which cities in Wyoming have the most technology sponsorship jobs?
Cheyenne leads with Microsoft's data center operations and several energy tech companies. Casper follows with petroleum industry technology roles at major energy firms. Laramie offers university research positions through the University of Wyoming's computer science and engineering departments. Jackson has emerging tech startups, though fewer visa sponsorship opportunities compared to Cheyenne and Casper.
What prevailing wage considerations affect technology jobs in Wyoming?
Wyoming's lower cost of living results in prevailing wages typically 15-25% below national technology averages, which can benefit H-1B applications. Energy sector technology roles often command premium wages due to specialized skills requirements. Department of Labor wage determinations vary significantly between Cheyenne's data center market and Casper's energy-focused positions, affecting LCA filings for sponsored candidates.
What is the prevailing wage for sponsored technology jobs in Wyoming?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
