Description
The City of Chicago’s Department of Law (DOL) is seeking an attorney for the position of Assistant Corporation Counsel III (“ACC”) to support eDiscovery and document review management for the department. The eDiscovery attorney will report to the Managing Deputy Corporation Counsel, Litigation Management in the Administration Division. Work will include managing eDiscovery projects, conducting preservation and collection, advising on best practices, developing strategies, policies, and procedures related to electronically stored information in litigation, and evaluation of the department’s document review and production tools. This eDiscovery attorney will also work closely with Law-IT and the Department of Technology and Innovation to ensure best practices are met for cyber security during the transmittal of information electronically.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Ideal candidates will possess:
- Litigation experience in state and federal court;
- Experience performing and managing complex litigation document reviews and electronic discovery projects;
- Experience with relational document review databases;
- Knowledge of privilege law and privilege review management;
- Ability to research and analyze complex issues;
- Ability to effectively communicate technical information to a broad audience;
- Ability to take initiative and assume responsibility for assigned tasks;
- Ability to organize, prioritize, monitor, and control workflow to meet deadlines;
- Ability to work well with colleagues, supervisors, and client department representatives; and
- Commitment to public service.
Qualifications
Graduation from an American Bar Association accredited law school with a Juris Doctor degree
Admission to the Illinois Bar (or eligible for admission on motion to the Illinois Bar pursuant to Illinois Supreme Court Rule 705).
