Target industries with high sponsorship volume
Healthcare networks, insurance carriers, and enterprise software companies file the most H-1B petitions for Billing Manager roles. Focusing your search on these sectors significantly improves your odds of finding an employer willing to sponsor.
Confirm your degree aligns with the role
USCIS requires a direct connection between your field of study and the job. A degree in accounting, finance, or business administration with a concentration in finance gives the strongest specialty occupation argument for a Billing Manager position.
Ask about sponsorship before the final interview round
Raise visa sponsorship during the second or third interview, not the first. By then the employer has invested in you and is more likely to engage HR or outside counsel to assess whether they can support your petition.
Understand LCA prevailing wage requirements
Your employer must file a Labor Condition Application certifying your offered wage meets the prevailing wage for Billing Managers in your metro area. Roles in high-cost cities tend to meet this threshold more comfortably, strengthening your overall petition.
Document your revenue cycle and billing system expertise
Sponsors build stronger H-1B petitions when the job requires specialized knowledge. Highlight experience with enterprise billing platforms, coding compliance, or payer contract management to reinforce that the role demands degree-level theoretical and practical expertise.
Use Migrate Mate to find verified sponsoring employers

Frequently Asked Questions
Does a Billing Manager role qualify as a specialty occupation for H-1B purposes?
Yes, in most cases. USCIS evaluates whether the position normally requires at least a bachelor's degree in a specific field. Billing Manager roles that involve revenue cycle oversight, compliance, and financial reporting in complex organizations, particularly in healthcare or SaaS, typically meet this standard when the job description emphasizes accounting or finance degree requirements.
Which visa types are most commonly used to sponsor Billing Managers?
The H-1B visa is the most common path. Australian citizens can also use the E-3 visa, which has no lottery and is generally easier to obtain. Canadians and Mexicans may qualify under the TN visa if the role maps cleanly to an accountant classification. Each option depends on the employer's willingness and the specific duties of the position.
What degree do I need for a sponsored Billing Manager role?
Most sponsoring employers require a bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, business administration, or health information management. A general business degree without a finance concentration can weaken the specialty occupation argument. If your degree is in an unrelated field, three years of qualifying work experience can substitute for each year of missing education under USCIS rules.
How can I find Billing Manager jobs that offer visa sponsorship?
Migrate Mate is built specifically for this. It surfaces Billing Manager listings from employers with an active sponsorship history, so you're not spending time applying to companies that will decline at the offer stage. Filtering by visa type lets you focus on H-1B or E-3 opportunities that match your situation.
Is H-1B approval likely for a Billing Manager petition?
Approval rates for business and finance specialty occupations have faced more USCIS scrutiny than STEM roles, so petition quality matters. Employers with experienced immigration counsel and detailed job descriptions that tie specific duties to degree-level knowledge see stronger outcomes. Petitions that describe generic management tasks without demonstrating theoretical application are more vulnerable to Requests for Evidence.
What is the prevailing wage requirement for sponsored Billing Manager jobs?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
