Description
Position at The Tuder Group
Veterinary Technician (Credentialed Or Experienced)
Hoboken, Bayonne, Jersey City Heights & Downtown Jersey City, NJ
Do you ever feel like your veterinary superpowers aren’t being fully appreciated? Like you could place a catheter blindfolded (not that you should), or run anesthesia smoother than your morning coffee machine—but no one notices? Time to join a team that gets it. At Animal Infirmary of Hoboken, Bayonne Animal Hospital, Downtown Veterinary Associates, and Heights Veterinary Associates, we’re not just four hospitals—we’re one big, slightly chaotic, incredibly dedicated family. Between our freshly renovated Bayonne and Downtown locations (they’re looking real good these days) and our long-time practice manager who truly goes to bat for her people, this is the kind of workplace that feels like home—just with more fur and fewer dishes in the sink. Our teams are full of long-timers who have grown right alongside the practice—some for over 20 years! We take pride in supporting each other, communicating like real humans, and celebrating wins big and small (sometimes with snacks, always with laughter).
What You’ll Do:
You’ll be the heartbeat of our hospital - advocating for patients, supporting doctors, and using every ounce of your technical skill. From radiology and anesthesia to dental care and laser therapy, you’ll be fully utilized and trusted to do what you do best.
Who You Are:
- A CVT, LVT, RVT, or an experienced veterinary technician who knows their stuff.
- Obsessed (in a healthy way) with patient care, client communication, and teamwork.
- Adaptable, positive, and calm even when things get a little... let’s say “energetic.”
- Ready to keep learning, growing, and maybe even teaching the next generation of techs.
Perks You’ll Love:
- A consistent 4-day work week (we believe in work-life balance, not work-life blur).
- Complimentary life insurance & short-term disability.
- 401K with generous company match (free money = yes, please).
- Health, dental, and vision plans (with options that actually fit your needs).
- Fertility and family-building benefits through Progyny.
- Mental health support, physical therapy programs, and pet care discounts.
- A culture that supports you, listens to you, and celebrates you.
If you’re ready to work somewhere that feels like family (but more organized, and less dysfunctional) come join our crew! Bring your skills, your compassion, and your best “can-do” attitude, and we’ll bring the support, laughs, and lifelong friendships. Apply today and let’s make great medicine happen—together!

How to Get Visa Sponsorship as a Certified Veterinary Technician
Target specialty veterinary practices
Emergency hospitals, specialty clinics, and research facilities are more likely to sponsor because they can better justify advanced skill requirements for H-1B petitions.
Highlight specialized certifications
VTS certifications in surgery, anesthesia, or emergency care strengthen your case by demonstrating expertise that goes beyond basic veterinary technology training.
Emphasize diagnostic and lab experience
Experience with advanced imaging, laboratory diagnostics, or specialized medical equipment helps establish the role as requiring specialized knowledge for visa applications.
Focus on bachelor's degree requirement
Your employer must prove the position specifically requires a four-year degree in veterinary technology, animal science, or closely related field for approval.
Document complex procedure involvement
Roles involving surgical assistance, anesthesia monitoring, or critical care procedures are easier to justify as specialty occupations requiring advanced training.
Consider research or academic positions
Veterinary schools, research institutions, and pharmaceutical companies often have stronger justification for sponsoring specialized veterinary technician roles requiring advanced degrees.

Do certified veterinary technicians qualify for H-1B sponsorship?
Yes, but the position must meet specialty occupation requirements. The employer needs to prove the specific role requires a bachelor's degree in veterinary technology or related field, and involves duties beyond routine veterinary care. Success rates are higher for positions in specialty practices, research, or emergency medicine.
What degree do I need for veterinary technician visa sponsorship?
You need a bachelor's degree in veterinary technology, animal science, biology, or closely related field. Some employers accept associate degrees combined with specialized certifications (like VTS credentials) and significant experience, but bachelor's degrees have much higher approval rates for H-1B petitions.
Which veterinary employers are most likely to sponsor visas?
Specialty veterinary hospitals, emergency clinics, veterinary schools, research institutions, and pharmaceutical companies have the strongest track record. These employers can better justify why the position requires specialized knowledge and advanced education, making H-1B approval more likely than general practice positions.
How competitive is H-1B sponsorship for veterinary technicians?
Moderately challenging because USCIS scrutinizes whether veterinary technician roles truly require bachelor's-level education. Positions focusing on specialized procedures, research, or advanced diagnostics have better approval odds than general clinical support roles. Having VTS certification or specialty training significantly improves chances.
Can veterinary technicians get other work visas besides H-1B?
Limited options exist. O-1 visas require extraordinary ability, which is rare in veterinary technology. TN visas don't include veterinary technicians as qualifying professions. Some may qualify for J-1 exchange programs through veterinary research positions, but H-1B remains the primary pathway for permanent employment.
What is the prevailing wage requirement for sponsored Certified Veterinary Technician jobs?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
