Target Series B and later-stage startups
Companies that have raised significant venture funding are most likely to sponsor CRO roles. They have the legal infrastructure, runway, and urgency to hire internationally and navigate the H-1B or O-1A process.
Position your degree field carefully
H-1B specialty occupation requires a directly related degree. Business administration, finance, economics, or marketing degrees typically support CRO applications. A mismatched degree, even with strong experience, can trigger a Request for Evidence.
Build an O-1A case alongside H-1B
CROs with documented revenue growth, industry awards, media coverage, or board-level compensation data often qualify for O-1A extraordinary ability. This bypasses the H-1B lottery entirely and is worth pursuing with an immigration attorney.
Negotiate sponsorship before accepting an offer
Many companies are open to sponsorship but do not advertise it. Raise the conversation after demonstrating fit and receiving interest. Waiting until the offer stage reduces leverage and can delay or derail the timeline.
Understand the employer's prior sponsorship history
Companies that have sponsored H-1B visas before move faster and make fewer errors. Ask your recruiter directly whether the company has sponsored before. First-time sponsors often underestimate legal costs and timelines for senior roles.
Use Migrate Mate to find sponsorship-open CRO roles
Most job boards do not filter for visa sponsorship. Migrate Mate is built specifically for international candidates and surfaces CRO and senior revenue leadership roles from employers open to sponsoring work visas.

Find Chief Revenue Officer JobsFrequently Asked Questions
Can a Chief Revenue Officer role qualify for H-1B sponsorship?
Yes, CRO roles can qualify as H-1B specialty occupations when the position requires a bachelor's degree or higher in a specific field such as business administration, finance, or marketing. USCIS scrutinizes executive roles more closely than individual contributor positions, so the job description must clearly establish a theoretical and practical degree requirement, not just general business acumen.
Is the O-1A visa a realistic option for CROs?
For experienced CROs, the O-1A is often more achievable than it sounds. USCIS evaluates criteria including high compensation relative to peers, critical role at a distinguished organization, media coverage, and judging others' work such as advisory boards or pitch panels. If you have documented revenue outcomes, press coverage, or industry recognition, an immigration attorney can assess whether you meet at least three of the required criteria.
What degree does a CRO need for H-1B eligibility?
There is no single required major, but the degree must be directly related to the duties of the CRO role. Business administration, economics, finance, and marketing are the most commonly accepted fields. An MBA strengthens the application significantly. If your undergraduate degree is in an unrelated field, three years of relevant professional experience can substitute for one year of education under USCIS equivalency rules.
How hard is it for a CRO to get H-1B approval?
Approval rates for business and management roles have historically been lower than for STEM roles because USCIS applies stricter specialty occupation standards. Well-documented applications that clearly tie the CRO's duties to a specific degree field tend to fare better. Working with an experienced immigration attorney and ensuring the employer's offer letter and job description are precise materially improves outcomes.
Where can I find CRO jobs that offer visa sponsorship?
Standard job boards rarely indicate whether a company is open to sponsoring senior roles. Migrate Mate is designed specifically for international candidates and lists CRO and executive revenue leadership positions from companies with a track record of visa sponsorship. Filtering for sponsorship-open roles from the start saves time and avoids late-stage conversations where sponsorship becomes a dealbreaker.
What is the prevailing wage requirement for sponsored Chief Revenue Officer jobs?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
