How to Get Visa Sponsorship in Director Of Strategic Accounts
Target enterprise software and SaaS employers
Large SaaS and enterprise software companies sponsor H-1B visas at high rates for strategic accounts roles. These employers have established immigration infrastructure, making the sponsorship process faster and more predictable than smaller firms.
Understand the specialty occupation requirement
USCIS requires a direct link between your degree and the role. A business, marketing, or management degree supports this clearly. Roles focused on complex enterprise relationships typically satisfy specialty occupation criteria when the job description is precise.
Ask about the employer's H-1B filing history
Before accepting an offer, confirm the employer has sponsored H-1B visas before. Companies with existing immigration counsel process petitions faster and with fewer errors, reducing the risk of delays or requests for evidence after filing.
Consider O-1A if you have exceptional credentials
Directors with industry awards, speaking engagements, published work, or a track record of leading high-value accounts may qualify for O-1A status. This visa bypasses the H-1B lottery entirely and offers a strong alternative for senior candidates.
Time your job search around the H-1B cap cycle
Cap-subject H-1B petitions are filed in April for an October start date. Starting your Director of Strategic Accounts job search by January gives employers enough lead time to file before the registration window opens in March.

Do Director of Strategic Accounts roles qualify for H-1B sponsorship?
Yes, Director of Strategic Accounts positions generally qualify as specialty occupations under H-1B requirements when the role demands a bachelor's degree or higher in a specific field such as business, marketing, or management. The key is that the job description must establish a clear theoretical and practical application of that degree. Vague or generalist postings carry more USCIS scrutiny, so a well-drafted petition from an experienced immigration attorney matters here.
What degree do I need for a Director of Strategic Accounts visa sponsorship?
Most employers require a bachelor's degree in business administration, marketing, communications, or a related field. USCIS evaluates whether the degree is directly applicable to the role, not just whether you hold one. If your degree is in an unrelated field, substantial work experience in strategic accounts, enterprise sales, or client relationship management can sometimes be used to establish qualification, particularly under O-1 petitions or through credential evaluations.
How competitive is H-1B sponsorship for this role?
H-1B sponsorship for Director of Strategic Accounts roles is competitive primarily because of the lottery, not because employers are reluctant to sponsor. In recent years, USCIS has received over 400,000 registrations for roughly 85,000 available slots. Candidates with a master's degree from a U.S. institution have a statistical advantage through the advanced degree exemption pool, which is drawn first. Cap-exempt employers, such as universities or nonprofits, bypass the lottery entirely.
Where can I find Director of Strategic Accounts jobs that offer visa sponsorship?
Migrate Mate is built specifically for international candidates seeking U.S. roles with visa sponsorship. Listings are filtered to show employers with a track record of sponsoring work visas, saving you the time of screening out companies that won't engage with immigration requirements. This is particularly useful at the director level, where sponsorship conversations happen earlier in the process and you need to know quickly whether a company will move forward.
Can I transfer my H-1B to a new Director of Strategic Accounts role?
Yes. H-1B portability allows you to change employers while maintaining valid status, as long as your new employer files a transfer petition before your current status expires and the new role also qualifies as a specialty occupation. For Director of Strategic Accounts positions, the specialty occupation analysis carries over if the scope and degree requirements are similar. You can begin working for the new employer as soon as the transfer petition is filed and the receipt notice is issued.
What is the prevailing wage requirement for sponsored Director Of Strategic Accounts jobs?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
