Who We Are
At Twelve Labs, we are pioneering the development of cutting-edge multimodal foundation models that have the ability to comprehend videos just like humans do. Our models have redefined the standards in video-language modeling, empowering us with more intuitive and far-reaching capabilities, and fundamentally transforming the way we interact with and analyze various forms of media. With a remarkable $107 million in Seed and Series A funding, our company is backed by top-tier venture capital firms such as NVIDIA’s NVentures, NEA, Radical Ventures, and Index Ventures, and prominent AI visionaries and founders such as Fei-Fei Li, Silvio Savarese, Alexandr Wang and more. Headquartered in San Francisco, with an influential APAC presence in Seoul, our global footprint underscores our commitment to driving worldwide innovation. We are a global company that values the uniqueness of each person’s journey. It is the differences in our cultural, educational, and life experiences that allow us to constantly challenge the status quo. We are looking for individuals who are motivated by our mission and eager to make an impact as we push the bounds of technology to transform the world. Join us as we revolutionize video understanding and multimodal AI.
About The Role
We’re hiring a Staff Frontend Engineer to craft the interaction layer of Rodeo — a video-centric creative tool where microinteractions, animation, and polish define the product experience. This is a design-forward frontend role where you’ll own the feel of the product: transitions, motion, responsiveness, and the small details that make professional tools feel intuitive. You’ve built interfaces where craft matters — creative tools, editors, or media-rich products where users notice the difference between good and great. You have strong opinions about easing curves, frame budgets, and interaction patterns, and you’re energized by collaborating closely with design to push what’s possible in the browser. This role requires travel to our San Francisco headquarters on a quarterly basis for team offsites and company events, as well as approximately one week per month of in-person collaboration with the Rodeo team in the Los Angeles area. This travel is a requirement of the role and not optional. This role may require participation in on-site interviews and/or completion of in-person onboarding processes.
In this role, you will
Frontend (Primary):
- Build fluid, highly polished UIs with React and TypeScript that feel fast and intentional
- Own interaction design implementation — microinteractions, transitions, animations, and motion using Framer Motion, React Spring, or GSAP
- Collaborate closely with the design team on rapid ideation and prototyping of new interaction patterns
- Translate high-fidelity Figma designs into production interfaces with pixel-level accuracy
- Build and maintain a component library and design system that enforces consistency and craft across the product
- Optimize rendering performance for complex canvases, timelines, and media-rich views
- Write reliable unit, integration, and E2E tests for complex interactive UI workflows
- Use AI-assisted development tools thoughtfully to accelerate implementation while maintaining quality
Design Collaboration:
- Work embedded with the design team as a creative partner, not just an implementer
- Prototype interaction concepts quickly to validate design direction before committing to full implementation
- Advocate for and implement the micro-details that elevate product feel — loading states, error handling, empty states, and transitions between views
You may be a good fit if you have
- 5+ years building production frontend applications, with meaningful time in creative tools, editors, or media-rich products
- Deep experience with React and TypeScript
- Strong command of animation and interaction libraries (Framer Motion, React Spring, GSAP, or similar)
- A portfolio or body of work that demonstrates interaction design sensibility
- Experience with canvas-based or timeline-based interfaces
- Strong eye for design and a commitment to craft and polish
- Comfort working in fast-paced, iterative environments alongside designers
- Experience with Next.js and modern frontend tooling
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience at creative tool companies (Descript, Runway, CapCut, Opus Clip, or similar)
- Background in generative art, creative coding, or interaction design
- Experience building editor or timeline UIs
- Familiarity with video playback and media APIs in the browser
- Side projects that show creative or interaction sensibility
Benefits And Perks
🤝 An open and inclusive culture and work environment.
🚀 Work closely with a collaborative, mission-driven team on cutting-edge AI technology.
🏥 Full health, dental, and vision benefits
✈️ Extremely flexible PTO and parental leave policy. Office closed the week of Christmas and New Years.
🛂 VISA support where applicable
Compensation Range:
$175K - $230K

How to Get Visa Sponsorship as a Front End Software Engineer
Target companies with H-1B filing history
Employers who have filed H-1B petitions before understand the process and are far less likely to back out mid-hire. Prioritize mid-size and large tech companies with established immigration programs over early-stage startups.
Make your degree field explicit on your resume
Front-end roles qualify as specialty occupations when tied to a computer science, software engineering, or information systems degree. State your degree field clearly so hiring managers can quickly confirm sponsorship eligibility without extra back-and-forth.
Raise sponsorship early, not after the offer
Bringing up visa needs after an offer creates friction. Mention your sponsorship requirement during the recruiter screen so only genuinely willing employers move you forward, saving everyone time in the process.
Emphasize framework depth, not breadth
Hiring managers for sponsored roles want to minimize risk. Deep expertise in React, Vue, or Angular signals a hire worth the sponsorship investment. A generalist profile is harder to justify in a petition than a clear specialization.
Build a portfolio that removes doubt
A strong public portfolio of shipped products reduces employer hesitation around sponsorship. It demonstrates professional-level output and gives hiring managers concrete evidence to justify the petition internally to leadership and legal teams.

Does a front-end software engineer role qualify for H-1B sponsorship?
Yes, front-end software engineer positions consistently qualify as H-1B specialty occupations. USCIS requires that the role normally requires a bachelor's degree or higher in a specific field, computer science, software engineering, or a related discipline. Roles requiring any general degree, regardless of field, would not qualify, so the job description must tie the position to a technical degree field specifically.
What if my degree is in a field adjacent to computer science, like mathematics or electrical engineering?
Adjacent degrees can support an H-1B petition if your coursework is relevant to front-end development and the employer can demonstrate a logical connection. USCIS evaluates degree-job alignment case by case. A credential evaluation from a recognized agency strengthens the case. Degrees in unrelated fields face higher scrutiny and may require a Request for Evidence from USCIS.
How common is visa sponsorship for front-end engineers compared to other tech roles?
Front-end engineering is one of the more frequently sponsored tech disciplines. DOL LCA disclosure data consistently shows large volumes of approved petitions for front-end and software engineer titles at major employers including Google, Amazon, and Meta, as well as mid-size product companies. You can browse actively sponsoring employers on Migrate Mate, which filters specifically for visa-sponsoring roles.
Can I get sponsored on an E-3 visa as a front-end engineer if I'm Australian?
Yes. Front-end software engineer roles qualify for the E-3 visa under the specialty occupation requirement, the same standard as the H-1B. The E-3 has no lottery, a 10,500 annual cap that has never been reached, and allows unlimited two-year renewals. Australian citizens can apply directly at a U.S. consulate in Australia without waiting for an October start date.
Will employers sponsor front-end engineers for a green card, not just an H-1B?
Many do, but it's typically not offered upfront and depends on how long you've been with the company and how valued you are. Most green card sponsorship for software engineers goes through the EB-2 or EB-3 employment-based categories via PERM labor certification. It's reasonable to ask about long-term sponsorship intentions during the offer negotiation stage, not during initial interviews.
What is the prevailing wage requirement for sponsored Front End Software Engineer jobs?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
