About The Team
The GTM Business Operations & Strategy team helps shape and scale how our B2B business grows across products, customer segments, and routes to market. We work closely with Product, Sales, Success, Data Science, Finance, Marketing, Legal, Security, and Operations to define strategic priorities, evaluate growth opportunities, and translate those priorities into the plans, processes, and cross-functional coordination required to execute well. Our work sits at the intersection of strategy and execution. We help frame the most important questions facing the business, turn complex inputs into clear decisions and operating plans, and build the structures needed to move priority initiatives forward across teams. The team plays a central role in helping the organization stay focused on where to grow, how to execute, and what needs to be in place for new initiatives to scale successfully.
About The Role
We’re looking for an exceptional operator to join our team to lead GTM business strategy & operations for Security & Safety across the GTM organization. As AI models & products advance, safety and security are critical to deploying AI broadly. This role is ideal for someone who combines strong operational judgment with fluency in safety & security practices, and who enjoys building the systems, processes, and cross-functional rhythms that help a fast-moving organization scale. You’ll play a central role in shaping how we bring security- and safety-critical products, capabilities, and policies to market. You will define how we structure the safety and security program within GTM, building an operating system that is resilient, scalable, and designed to unlock our ability to grow with customers as we introduce new products. This includes developing and operationalizing data retention policies, building go-to-market strategy for cybersecurity models, and defining application security requirements from the field to help inform the product roadmap. You will also help create the operating mechanisms that translate recurring customer and seller security needs into scalable product, policy, and enablement decisions. This role will work closely with Product, Security, Policy, Safety, Legal, Data, Sales, Customer Success, Marketing, and Revenue Operations to ensure our GTM motion is prepared to support enterprise security requirements, appsec expectations, and evolving customer trust needs. This role is based in San Francisco, CA. We use a hybrid work model of 3 days in the office per week and offer relocation assistance to new employees.
In This Role, You Will
- Define how the Safety & Security program is structured within GTM, including ownership, decision forums, planning cadences, and escalation paths that support a resilient and scalable operating model.
- Develop and operationalize data retention policies across products, customer segments, and deployment scenarios in close partnership with Product, Security, Policy, Safety, Legal, and Data.
- Build go-to-market strategy for cybersecurity models, including target customers, use cases, commercialization approach, launch readiness, success metrics, and field enablement.
- Create scalable mechanisms to capture recurring security, safety, and appsec needs from customers and field teams, and translate them into structured inputs for product roadmap, policy, and enablement decisions.
- Track customer demand, implementation blockers, and market signals to refine strategy and drive cross-functional execution across Product, Security, Policy, Safety, Legal, Data, Sales, Customer Success, Marketing, and Revenue Operations.
You Might Thrive In This Role If You
- Have 10+ years of experience across GTM strategy, business operations, product strategy, security strategy, consulting, or related functions in high-growth technology environments.
- Bring strong fluency in enterprise security and application security, with working knowledge of topics such as data retention, IAM, audit logging, secure development practices, and vulnerability management.
- Have experience translating field requirements and customer feedback into product roadmap input, operational priorities, and scalable GTM programs.
- Are comfortable working with technical products and engaging effectively with both technical and business stakeholders.
- Are highly analytical and can turn qualitative feedback and recurring field patterns into clear priorities and action.
- Have demonstrated success leading complex cross-functional initiatives across Product, Security, Legal, Sales, Customer Success, and Operations.
- Are able to move between long-term strategic direction and hands-on execution, and can bring structure to ambiguous, fast-moving environments.
- Are an exceptional communicator and collaborator who can influence senior stakeholders across technical and non-technical teams.

Target well-funded Series B and C companies
Companies with recent funding rounds have dedicated HR and legal budgets for visa sponsorship. Growth-stage firms hiring their first Head of GTM are especially motivated to sponsor the right candidate regardless of immigration status.
Lead with revenue impact in your application
Sponsoring employers weigh cost against value. Quantify pipeline generated, deal cycles shortened, and GTM motions you've built. Concrete revenue outcomes make the sponsorship investment an easy business case for hiring managers and legal teams.
Build an O-1A case alongside your job search
Senior GTM leaders with measurable business impact, speaking engagements, or industry recognition often qualify for O-1A extraordinary ability status. This visa is employer-filed but easier to transfer, making you more attractive to sponsors with flexibility concerns.
Prioritize companies with prior H-1B filing history
Employers who have sponsored visas before understand the process and move faster. Searching for companies with H-1B disclosure data shows which organizations are already comfortable with sponsorship, reducing friction during offer and negotiation stages.
Use Migrate Mate to filter for sponsoring employers
Not every company that posts a Head of GTM role will sponsor. Migrate Mate surfaces roles from employers verified to sponsor visas, so you spend time on opportunities that can actually move forward rather than chasing dead ends.
Frequently Asked Questions
Can a Head of GTM role qualify for H-1B sponsorship?
Yes. Head of GTM roles qualify as H-1B visa specialty occupations because they require at least a bachelor's degree in business, marketing, or a related field. USCIS expects the degree to be directly tied to the position's responsibilities, so roles blending strategy, demand generation, and revenue operations are well-positioned for approval.
What degree does a Head of GTM typically need for visa sponsorship?
Most employers and USCIS petitions for Head of GTM roles cite a bachelor's degree in marketing, business administration, economics, or communications as the minimum requirement. An MBA strengthens the petition significantly. If your degree is in an unrelated field, documented equivalent experience in GTM strategy can sometimes supplement the academic requirement.
Is the O-1A visa a realistic path for a Head of GTM candidate?
It can be. Senior GTM leaders who have led category-defining launches, spoken at major industry conferences, published thought leadership, or received industry awards may meet O-1A criteria for extraordinary ability. The bar is high but achievable for candidates with a strong public track record of GTM impact at recognizable companies.
Do startups actually sponsor visas for GTM leadership roles?
Many do, especially at Series B and beyond when they're scaling revenue operations and can't afford to limit their search. That said, early-stage startups with no prior sponsorship experience may be hesitant due to cost and process uncertainty. Migrate Mate focuses on employers already verified to sponsor, which cuts through the ambiguity at the application stage.
How competitive is H-1B approval for a Head of GTM compared to technical roles?
Approval rates for business and marketing roles are generally lower than for software engineers or data scientists, as USCIS scrutinizes whether the role genuinely requires a specialized degree rather than general management experience. A well-documented job description that ties specific GTM responsibilities to specialized knowledge is critical. Working with an experienced immigration attorney significantly improves petition outcomes.
What is the prevailing wage requirement for sponsored Head Of Gtm jobs?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
