How to Get Visa Sponsorship in Healthcare Revenue Cycle
Target large hospital systems and health networks
Large health systems like HCA Healthcare, CommonSpirit, and Tenet Health have established immigration programs and sponsor revenue cycle roles more consistently than smaller private practices, which rarely have the infrastructure to navigate visa filings.
Get your CPC or CCS certification before applying
Coding certifications from AAPC or AHIMA, such as the CPC or CCS, signal role-specific expertise that strengthens specialty occupation arguments for H-1B petitions and makes you a more competitive candidate for sponsorship-willing employers.
Clarify your degree field matches the role
Revenue cycle positions typically require a degree in health information management, healthcare administration, or a related field. A general business degree alone may not satisfy the specialty occupation standard USCIS applies to H-1B petitions for these roles.
Explore TN visa eligibility if you are Canadian or Mexican
Canadian and Mexican nationals working in medical or health information roles may qualify for TN status, which bypasses the H-1B lottery entirely. Confirm your specific job title maps to an approved TN occupation category before pursuing this path.
Use Migrate Mate to filter for sponsorship-ready employers
Browse healthcare revenue cycle roles on Migrate Mate to find employers who have documented H-1B or E-3 sponsorship histories, saving time by focusing your applications on organizations that have already committed to sponsoring international candidates.

Do healthcare revenue cycle jobs qualify for H-1B sponsorship?
Many do, but approval depends on the specific role and how the employer frames the position. USCIS requires that the job meet the specialty occupation standard, meaning it typically requires a bachelor's degree or higher in a specific field like health information management or healthcare administration. Roles like revenue cycle analyst or coding specialist have been approved under H-1B, but general billing clerk positions with no degree requirement generally do not qualify.
What degree do I need for a sponsored revenue cycle job?
Most H-1B-sponsored revenue cycle positions require a bachelor's degree in health information management, healthcare administration, business administration with a healthcare focus, or a closely related field. A degree in an unrelated field combined with relevant certifications, such as the CPC or CCS, may support a specialty occupation argument in some cases, but this is less straightforward and can invite additional USCIS scrutiny.
Are Canadian or Mexican nationals in revenue cycle eligible for TN visas?
Potentially, yes. The TN visa covers certain health-related occupations listed under USMCA, but revenue cycle roles do not have their own explicit TN category. Canadians and Mexicans working as medical technologists or health information professionals may qualify depending on their exact job duties and credentials. The fit is not automatic, so it is worth consulting an immigration attorney to assess whether your specific role and degree map to an approved TN occupation.
How can I find healthcare revenue cycle employers who sponsor visas?
Migrate Mate is the most direct way to find healthcare revenue cycle roles where employers have a documented history of visa sponsorship. Rather than applying broadly and discovering late that an employer won't sponsor, Migrate Mate filters for sponsorship-willing organizations so you can focus your time on applications that are actually viable for international candidates.
Does working in healthcare revenue cycle remotely affect sponsorship eligibility?
Remote work does not automatically disqualify a position from H-1B sponsorship, but it adds complexity. The employer must file a Labor Condition Application listing the worksite location, and remote workers may require amended petitions if they move to a different metropolitan area. Some employers are hesitant to sponsor remote revenue cycle roles because of the LCA compliance burden. On-site or hybrid positions at a fixed employer location tend to be smoother from a sponsorship administration standpoint.
What is the prevailing wage requirement for sponsored Healthcare Revenue Cycle jobs?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
