Target hospitals with international programs
Large hospital systems like Mayo Clinic, Cleveland Clinic, and Johns Hopkins regularly sponsor radiologic technologists. These institutions have established H-1B processes and understand specialty occupation requirements for medical imaging roles.
Emphasize specialized imaging certifications
ARRT certifications in CT, MRI, mammography, or nuclear medicine strengthen your specialty occupation case. Multiple certifications demonstrate the specialized knowledge required for H-1B approval in radiologic technology positions.
Document your clinical training hours
USCIS may question associate degrees for H-1B eligibility. Maintain detailed records of your clinical training hours and specialized coursework to support the three-for-one experience substitution rule if needed.
Research state licensing requirements early
Each state has different licensing requirements for radiologic technologists. Research your target state's requirements and begin the licensing process early, as employers often require valid state licensure before sponsorship.
Connect with medical staffing agencies
Healthcare staffing agencies like Cross Country Healthcare and Medical Solutions often work with employers seeking to sponsor international radiologic technologists. They understand the visa process and can connect you with sponsoring facilities.
Prepare for skills demonstrations
Some employers may request practical demonstrations of imaging equipment operation during interviews. Be prepared to discuss specific modalities, patient positioning techniques, and radiation safety protocols relevant to the position.

Find Radiologic Technologist JobsFrequently Asked Questions
Do radiologic technologists qualify for H-1B visa sponsorship?
Yes, radiologic technologists qualify for H-1B sponsorship as a specialty occupation requiring specialized medical knowledge. However, the associate degree typical for this field may require additional documentation through the three-for-one experience rule, where three years of relevant work experience substitute for one year of education to meet the bachelor's degree equivalent requirement.
What education requirements do employers expect for visa sponsorship?
Most employers require an associate degree in radiologic technology plus ARRT certification. For H-1B purposes, you may need to demonstrate bachelor's degree equivalency through combined education and experience. USCIS typically accepts associate degree plus six years of progressive experience in medical imaging as equivalent to a four-year degree.
Which types of healthcare facilities sponsor radiologic technologists?
Large hospital systems, academic medical centers, and specialized imaging facilities most commonly sponsor H-1B petitions for radiologic technologists. Facilities like Mayo Clinic, Cleveland Clinic, and major university hospitals have established sponsorship programs. Smaller clinics and outpatient centers rarely have the resources or need for international sponsorship.
How do state licensing requirements affect visa sponsorship?
You must obtain state licensure before beginning work, and many employers require valid licensure before filing H-1B petitions. Each state has different requirements for international candidates. Some states accept foreign education credentials more readily than others. Research your target state's licensing board requirements and begin the application process early in your job search.
How to find Radiologic Technologist jobs with visa sponsorship?
Use Migrate Mate to find Radiologic Technologist positions with visa sponsorship. This specialized platform connects healthcare professionals with hospitals, diagnostic imaging centers, and medical facilities offering H-1B, EB-2, and EB-3 visa sponsorship. Filter searches specifically for radiology departments and imaging centers that actively sponsor international candidates for permanent and temporary work authorization.
What specializations strengthen my sponsorship case?
Advanced certifications in CT, MRI, mammography, nuclear medicine, or interventional radiography strengthen your specialty occupation argument. These specializations require additional training and demonstrate the high level of specialized knowledge USCIS looks for in H-1B cases. Facilities with these advanced imaging needs are also more likely to sponsor international candidates.
What is the prevailing wage requirement for sponsored Radiologic Technologist jobs?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
