Which companies sponsor visas for radiologic technologists in Illinois?
The most active sponsors in Illinois are large integrated health systems with high imaging volume. Northwestern Medicine, Rush University Medical Center, Advocate Aurora Health, OSF HealthCare, and HSHS Medical Group have all filed for radiologic technologist roles through H-1B or EB-3 pathways. Academic medical centers affiliated with the University of Chicago and Loyola University Chicago also appear in Department of Labor disclosure data for imaging staff.
Which visa types are most common for radiologic technologist roles in Illinois?
The EB-3 employment-based immigrant visa is the most common long-term pathway for radiologic technologists in Illinois, as the role typically requires an associate degree plus ARRT certification rather than a full bachelor's degree in a specialized field. Some employers also use the H-1B for candidates whose specific modality training or degree aligns with specialty occupation standards. TN status is available to Canadian and Mexican nationals if the role qualifies under USMCA occupational categories.
Which cities in Illinois have the most radiologic technologist sponsorship jobs?
Chicago and its suburbs account for the large majority of radiologic technologist sponsorship activity in Illinois, driven by the density of hospitals, outpatient imaging centers, and academic medical campuses in Cook and DuPage counties. Peoria is a secondary market anchored by OSF HealthCare and UnityPoint Health facilities. Springfield, Rockford, and the Metro East region near St. Louis also have recurring openings, particularly within regional hospital systems serving those communities.
How to find radiologic technologist visa sponsorship jobs in Illinois?
Migrate Mate filters job listings specifically for roles that include visa sponsorship, making it straightforward to browse radiologic technologist openings in Illinois without sorting through positions that exclude international candidates. Because sponsorship-willing employers in imaging are concentrated among larger health systems, searching by Illinois location on Migrate Mate and prioritizing hospital and multi-site employers tends to surface the most relevant opportunities. Confirming ARRT certification eligibility before applying is also recommended.
Are there state-specific considerations for radiologic technologists seeking sponsorship in Illinois?
Illinois requires radiologic technologists to hold a state license issued by the Illinois Emergency Management Agency (IEMA) in addition to ARRT certification, which is a prerequisite most sponsoring employers will confirm before extending an offer. The Chicago metro's prevailing wage levels for imaging roles are set by the Department of Labor and reflect a high cost-of-living market, which directly affects the wage an H-1B or EB-3 sponsoring employer must commit to paying. Candidates trained outside the U.S. should verify that their credentials are accepted for Illinois IEMA licensure.
What is the prevailing wage for sponsored radiologic technologist jobs in Illinois?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
