Which companies sponsor visas for radiologic technologists in Alabama?
UAB Medicine is the most active sponsor in the state, given its size as a major academic medical center in Birmingham. Huntsville Hospital Health System, DCH Regional Medical Center in Tuscaloosa, and Southeast Health in Dothan have also sponsored imaging professionals. Staffing agencies that place per-diem or contract rad techs in Alabama facilities occasionally appear in H-1B visa disclosure data as well, though direct hospital employment is more common for sponsored positions.
Which visa types are most common for radiologic technologist roles in Alabama?
The H-1B is the most frequently used visa for radiologic technologists in Alabama, as the role generally qualifies as a specialty occupation requiring at least a bachelor's degree in radiologic technology or a closely related field. The EB-3 immigrant visa is another common pathway for internationally trained rad techs, particularly those recruited through healthcare staffing firms. TN visa status is available for Canadian and Mexican nationals who meet the applicable occupational criteria.
Which cities in Alabama have the most radiologic technologist sponsorship jobs?
Birmingham accounts for the largest share of rad tech sponsorship activity in Alabama, driven primarily by UAB Medicine and affiliated Children's of Alabama. Huntsville is a growing market as its hospital network expands alongside the region's population. Tuscaloosa and Montgomery each have established health systems that periodically hire internationally trained imaging professionals. Smaller markets like Dothan and Mobile have less frequent sponsorship activity but are worth monitoring.
How to find radiologic technologist visa sponsorship jobs in Alabama?
Migrate Mate is built specifically for this search. You can filter by state and job category to surface radiologic technologist roles in Alabama where employers have a documented history of visa sponsorship. Because sponsorship-willing employers are not always easy to identify through general job searches, Migrate Mate's focused filtering saves significant time and helps you prioritize outreach to facilities that are genuinely open to sponsoring international candidates.
Are there any state-specific considerations for internationally trained rad techs seeking work in Alabama?
Alabama requires radiologic technologists to hold licensure through the Alabama Board of Radiologic Technology before practicing in the state. International candidates must also hold current ARRT certification, which most Alabama employers treat as a non-negotiable credential. Employers will file an H-1B only after these requirements are confirmed, so securing ARRT certification and initiating the Alabama licensure process early is important before expecting a sponsorship offer.
What is the prevailing wage for sponsored radiologic technologist jobs in Alabama?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
