How to Get Visa Sponsorship as an Interventional Specialist
Target hospital systems and med-tech employers
Large hospital networks and medical device companies sponsor visas far more regularly than smaller clinics. Filtering your search by employer type dramatically improves your odds of finding a role with active H-1B sponsorship infrastructure already in place.
Confirm your degree field matches the role
Interventional Specialist positions typically require a degree in a clinical, biomedical, or health sciences field. A mismatched degree, even with strong experience, can complicate the specialty occupation determination during H-1B petition review by USCIS.
Get your credentials evaluated early
If you completed your degree outside the U.S., obtain a credential evaluation from a NACES-approved organization before applying. This confirms equivalency to a U.S. bachelor's degree and prevents delays when your employer files the H-1B petition.
Ask directly about sponsorship willingness in outreach
Many employers sponsor but don't advertise it. When reaching out to hiring managers or recruiters, ask specifically whether they've sponsored H-1B petitions before. Past sponsorship history is the strongest predictor of willingness to sponsor again.
Use Migrate Mate to find verified sponsoring employers
Migrate Mate curates jobs from employers with documented visa sponsorship activity. Searching there filters out roles where sponsorship is unlikely, saving time and focusing your energy on companies that have already committed to sponsoring international candidates.

Get Access To All JobsFrequently Asked Questions
Does the Interventional Specialist role qualify as a specialty occupation for H-1B purposes?
Yes, Interventional Specialist roles generally qualify as specialty occupations because they require at minimum a bachelor's degree in a specific clinical or biomedical field. USCIS evaluates whether the degree requirement is tied directly to the job duties, so roles involving procedural guidance, device operation, or clinical support in a specialized setting typically clear this bar. Your employer's petition should document the specific degree requirement explicitly.
Which visa types are most commonly used to sponsor Interventional Specialists?
The H-1B is the most common path for Interventional Specialists with a relevant bachelor's degree or higher. Candidates with exceptional clinical or technical distinction may qualify for the O-1A. Australians in this field can also pursue the E-3, which has no lottery and is significantly faster to obtain. The right visa depends on your nationality, degree, and the employer's prior sponsorship experience.
What degree do I need for an employer to sponsor me as an Interventional Specialist?
Most Interventional Specialist roles require a degree in a health sciences, biomedical engineering, nursing, or related clinical field. General degrees in business or unrelated disciplines typically don't satisfy the specialty occupation requirement. If your degree field doesn't directly match, relevant postgraduate credentials or demonstrated specialized training may help, but this needs to be assessed case by case with the sponsoring employer's immigration attorney.
How do I find Interventional Specialist jobs where the employer is willing to sponsor a visa?
Sponsorship willingness isn't always listed in job postings, so searching broadly wastes time. Migrate Mate focuses specifically on visa-sponsoring employers, making it the most efficient way to find Interventional Specialist roles where international candidates are genuinely considered. Look for employers in large hospital systems, medical device manufacturers, and specialty care networks, as these organizations tend to have established immigration processes.
Can I work as an Interventional Specialist on OPT before my employer files an H-1B?
Yes. If you're on F-1 OPT and your role qualifies under your degree field, you can begin working immediately without the employer needing to file an H-1B right away. STEM OPT extension gives eligible graduates an additional 24 months of work authorization, which covers two H-1B lottery cycles. Coordinate your OPT end date with your employer early so the petition timeline is planned in advance.
What is the prevailing wage requirement for sponsored Interventional Specialist jobs?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
