Quantitative Research Roles Have the Strongest H-1B Fit
Market research positions involving statistical modeling, conjoint analysis, MaxDiff, discrete choice, and survey methodology have significantly stronger H-1B specialty occupation classification than qualitative-only roles. Highlight proficiency in R, Python, SPSS, or SAS and specific quantitative methods on your resume to position yourself for the roles most likely to be sponsored.
Nielsen, Ipsos, Kantar, and Gartner Sponsor at Scale
Dedicated research firms employ thousands of analysts and have established H-1B filing history for research roles. Nielsen and Gartner are among the larger H-1B sponsors across all industries. These companies also have international offices that enable L-1 transfers, giving you two possible pathways at the same employer.
Consumer Goods Companies Have Structured Insights Programs
Procter & Gamble, Unilever, PepsiCo, and Mars run consumer insights leadership programs that recruit internationally and sponsor H-1B for market research associates and brand insights managers. These programs require specific marketing research or behavioral science degrees and have decades of sponsorship precedent. Apply through their global insights career tracks.
Tech Company Insights Roles Pay a Premium
User insights and market intelligence roles at Google, Amazon, Meta, and Microsoft pay $110,000 to $180,000 in total compensation, significantly more than equivalent positions at research firms or CPG companies. These companies sponsor routinely and often title the positions as market insights analyst, strategic insights manager, or competitive intelligence analyst within product or strategy organizations.
An Advanced Degree in Marketing Science or Applied Stats Opens Doors
A master's in marketing research, applied statistics, survey methodology, or quantitative psychology positions you for the analytically demanding roles that employers most need to fill through sponsorship. Programs at Michigan, Northwestern, UGA, and Wisconsin have direct recruiting relationships with major research employers and CPG insights teams.
TN Economist Category Works for Canadian and Mexican Analysts
The Economist profession on the USMCA treaty list covers market research roles involving economic analysis, demand estimation, and consumer behavior modeling. Ensure the offer letter describes duties in terms of economic research and market analysis rather than generic business support. Canadians apply at the border for same-day approval with no lottery.
