Microsoft Dynamics 365 Field Service Application Developer
Position Summary
OPEX Corporation is seeking a Microsoft Dynamics 365 - Field Service Application Developer to join our team at our World Headquarters in Moorestown, NJ. This hands-on role focuses on designing, building, testing, and maintaining solutions across Dynamics 365 Field Service, Microsoft Power Platform, integrations, and select in-house applications.
You will translate business needs into maintainable solutions, own work from discovery through deployment, and stay close to production by troubleshooting and improving what you build. The role emphasizes development and enhancement while retaining responsibilities for configuration, support, documentation, and user enablement.
How We Work
We share context, review ideas, pair on difficult problems, and step in when work crosses applications or specialties. We value teammates who communicate openly, document what they learn, and make the whole team stronger.
Talent does not always follow a traditional path. Skills gained through self-study, side projects, open-source work, experimentation, or experience outside a formal developer title are welcome. Tell us what you built, how you learned, and how you made something better. You do not need to check every box.
Responsibilities
- Design, develop, test, deploy, and maintain solutions in Dynamics 365 Field Service, Dataverse, Power Apps, and Power Automate.
- Translate business requirements into technical designs, prototypes, and production-ready enhancements that are reliable and maintainable.
- Configure and extend Dynamics 365 tables/entities, forms, views, business rules, workflows, security roles, and solution components.
- Build custom features and scripts using JavaScript, HTML/CSS, C#, PHP, SQL, Python, PowerShell, or the best-fit technology.
- Develop and support integrations using REST APIs, Power Platform connectors, third-party tools, and data workflows.
- Partner with the implementation team on the migration to Dynamics 365 Field Service, including data mapping, validation, testing, and issue resolution.
- Debug production issues, perform root cause analysis, and turn recurring problems into durable fixes or product improvements.
- Contribute to source control, testing, solution review, and release practices that improve quality and reduce deployment risk.
- Collaborate with service operations, IT, developers, and end users to gather requirements, review solutions, and validate outcomes.
- Support application releases, updates, user access, data quality, performance monitoring, and production stability.
- Create clear technical documentation, release notes, support guides, and training materials, and share reusable patterns and lessons with the team.
Requirements
- 2+ years of hands-on experience developing, configuring, or extending Microsoft Dynamics 365 and Dataverse solutions, or equivalent experience building comparable business applications.
- Experience with Power Platform, including Power Apps and Power Automate.
- Hands-on programming or scripting experience in at least one language such as JavaScript, C#, PHP, Python, or PowerShell. You do not need to be an expert in every technology listed.
- Working knowledge of REST APIs, JSON, SQL/data querying, system integrations, and data flows.
- Ability to translate user needs into maintainable technical solutions and carry work from design through testing and deployment.
- Strong debugging, problem-solving, and analytical skills, including root cause analysis.
- Clear communication and collaboration, with the ability to explain technical concepts, learn unfamiliar systems quickly, and carry work to a reliable result.
- Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience gained through work, certifications, self-directed learning, or project-based experience.
Preferred Qualifications (Helpful, Not Required)
- Experience with Dynamics 365 Field Service or supporting mobile workforce/service operations.
- Microsoft Dynamics or Power Platform certification, such as MB-240 or a similar credential.
- Experience with Dynamics 365 web resources, plug-ins, custom connectors, PCF controls, or other extensibility tools.
- Exposure to Azure services, middleware, or complex integrations.
- Experience with Git, Azure DevOps, CI/CD, automated testing, or structured release management.
- Examples of independent projects, automations, tools, or process improvements that show how you learn, build, and solve problems.
Physical/Work Environment
This position is based in an office setting. The role requires the ability to sit for extended periods.
Salary range: $75,000-$85,000, based on experience.

Target consulting firms over end-user employers
Consulting firms like Accenture, Deloitte, and Capgemini sponsor Dynamics 365 roles far more frequently than internal IT teams. They maintain active H-1B filing programs and hire across functional tracks including finance, supply chain, and customer engagement.
Align your degree to the specific Dynamics module
USCIS treats Dynamics 365 roles as specialty occupations only when the degree field matches the functional area. A finance degree supports F&O implementations. A computer science degree supports technical development tracks. Mismatches create RFE risk.
Distinguish functional consultant from developer roles
These are different visa profiles. Functional consultants typically need a business, accounting, or supply chain degree. Developers need a technical degree. Applying for the wrong track relative to your background increases the likelihood of a sponsorship denial.
Document certifications alongside your degree
Microsoft Dynamics certifications like MB-300, MB-310, or MB-920 strengthen your sponsorship case by demonstrating specialized expertise. They do not replace a qualifying degree but help employers and immigration attorneys build a more defensible specialty occupation argument.
Prioritize employers with an established LCA history
Check whether a prospective employer has filed Labor Condition Applications for Dynamics roles before. Employers with prior LCA history have existing relationships with immigration counsel and understand the process, which significantly reduces delays and unexpected complications during sponsorship.
Clarify sponsorship scope before advancing in interviews
Some employers sponsor for H-1B but not for green card. Others offer full immigration support through permanent residence. Asking directly about the scope of sponsorship early prevents investing weeks in a process that ends at status maintenance rather than long-term stability.
Frequently Asked Questions
Is a Microsoft Dynamics 365 role considered a specialty occupation for H-1B purposes?
Yes, in most configurations. USCIS has consistently approved H-1B visa petitions for Dynamics 365 functional consultants and developers when the petition ties the role to a specific degree field. The risk of an RFE increases when job descriptions are vague or list multiple unrelated degree fields as acceptable, which weakens the specialty occupation argument.
Which visa categories are most commonly used for Dynamics 365 roles?
H-1B is the most common path. TN visas work for Canadian and Mexican nationals in qualifying technical or business roles. L-1 visa transfers are available if you're moving within a multinational firm that uses Dynamics internally. The E-3 visa applies to Australian citizens in specialty occupation roles. O-1A is an option for candidates with documented industry recognition or leadership in the ERP space.
What degree do I need for a sponsored Dynamics 365 position?
It depends on the track. Functional consultants working in Finance and Operations typically need a degree in accounting, finance, business administration, or supply chain management. Technical consultants and developers need a degree in computer science, information systems, or a related technical field. A general business degree may not be sufficient for highly technical implementation roles and can trigger USCIS scrutiny.
How can I find employers actively sponsoring Dynamics 365 roles?
Migrate Mate aggregates visa-sponsoring employers and filters roles by sponsorship history, making it straightforward to identify companies actively hiring Dynamics 365 professionals on H-1B or other work visas. Consulting firms dominate the active sponsor list, but mid-sized enterprises with large ERP deployments also appear regularly.
Can I transfer my H-1B to a new Dynamics 365 employer mid-project?
Yes. H-1B portability allows you to transfer to a new employer once the new I-129 petition is filed, without waiting for approval, provided you've been in valid H-1B status for at least 180 days. For Dynamics roles, ensure the new employer's LCA reflects the correct wage level for your seniority and that the job duties still meet specialty occupation standards.
What is the prevailing wage requirement for sponsored Microsoft Dynamics 365 jobs?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
