How to Get Visa Sponsorship as an Oracle Developer
Target enterprise-scale employers
Large companies running Oracle ERP, EBS, or Fusion applications are most likely to sponsor visas. Fortune 500 firms in finance, healthcare, and manufacturing regularly file H-1B petitions for Oracle Developers with specialized database and PL/SQL skills.
Emphasize specialty occupation alignment
Your degree in computer science, information systems, or engineering directly supports H-1B specialty occupation classification. Be ready to show how your specific Oracle development work requires that theoretical and practical application of specialized knowledge.
Highlight Oracle-specific certifications
OCA, OCP, or Oracle Cloud certifications signal genuine specialization to both employers and USCIS. Certified candidates stand out during sponsorship evaluations because certifications reinforce the technical depth required to justify a specialty occupation petition.
Apply early in the H-1B cycle
H-1B registration opens in March each year. Employers need time to prepare LCA filings before registration. Connecting with sponsoring employers by January gives your petition the best chance of being ready when the window opens.
Consider cap-exempt employers
Universities, nonprofit research institutions, and government-affiliated organizations are exempt from the H-1B cap and lottery. Oracle Developer roles exist in these settings, and cap-exempt petitions can be filed year-round without waiting for the annual registration period.

Get Access To All JobsFrequently Asked Questions
Is Oracle Developer a qualifying specialty occupation for H-1B sponsorship?
Yes. Oracle Developer roles consistently qualify as H-1B specialty occupations because they require at minimum a bachelor's degree in computer science, information systems, or a closely related field. USCIS has a strong precedent approving petitions for database developers, PL/SQL engineers, and Oracle application developers, particularly when the job description specifies degree-level technical requirements rather than generic IT tasks.
What degree do I need for an employer to sponsor my Oracle Developer visa?
Most employers require a bachelor's degree in computer science, software engineering, management information systems, or a related technical field. Some will accept a degree in a different field if it's combined with Oracle-specific certifications and several years of relevant experience. USCIS evaluates degree-to-role alignment closely, so the closer your degree matches the technical nature of the role, the stronger the petition.
Which industries sponsor the most Oracle Developer H-1B petitions?
Financial services, healthcare systems, government contractors, and large-scale manufacturing firms are the heaviest sponsors. These industries run complex Oracle ERP or EBS environments that require dedicated development teams. Consulting firms that implement Oracle systems for enterprise clients, such as those specializing in Oracle Fusion or PeopleSoft, also file significant numbers of H-1B petitions for this role category.
Can I find Oracle Developer jobs with H-1B sponsorship on Migrate Mate?
Yes. Migrate Mate lists Oracle Developer roles filtered by employers with verified sponsorship activity. Rather than sorting through thousands of generic job postings, you can focus only on companies that have a documented history of filing H-1B petitions for technical roles, which significantly improves your chances of finding a realistic sponsorship opportunity.
What happens to my H-1B if my Oracle Developer role changes significantly after approval?
A material change in job duties, work location, or employer generally requires filing an amended H-1B petition before the change takes effect. Moving from Oracle development work to a primarily managerial or non-technical role could affect specialty occupation status. If your employer expands your responsibilities significantly, consult an immigration attorney to determine whether an amendment is required to maintain valid status.
What is the prevailing wage requirement for sponsored Oracle Developer jobs?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
