How to Get Visa Sponsorship as a Partner Relationship Manager
Target companies with existing H-1B filing history
Employers who have sponsored Partner Relationship Managers before are far more likely to do it again. Look for companies with consistent H-1B LCA filings in business development or partner-facing roles, as they understand the process and have legal infrastructure in place.
Align your degree to the specialty occupation requirement
H-1B approval depends on your role qualifying as a specialty occupation. A degree in business administration, marketing, communications, or a related field strengthens your petition. Roles requiring any generic bachelor's degree can face USCIS scrutiny during adjudication.
Prioritize employers with in-house immigration counsel
Companies with dedicated immigration attorneys move faster and handle RFEs more effectively. Startups relying on outside counsel for the first time often experience delays. Mid-to-large technology and SaaS companies are the most reliable sponsors for partner-facing roles.
Highlight measurable partner program outcomes in your resume
Sponsoring employers need to justify the role as a specialty occupation requiring a specific degree. Quantified achievements, such as partner pipeline growth or ecosystem revenue, signal the strategic complexity of the role and support the H-1B petition narrative.
Use Migrate Mate to find roles open to sponsorship
Most job postings don't state upfront whether sponsorship is available. Migrate Mate filters specifically for visa-sponsoring employers hiring for partner and business development roles, saving you the time of applying to positions that won't move forward.

Can a Partner Relationship Manager role qualify for H-1B sponsorship?
Yes, Partner Relationship Manager roles can qualify under the H-1B specialty occupation standard, provided the position genuinely requires a bachelor's degree or higher in a specific field such as business, marketing, or communications. USCIS scrutinizes business development roles more closely than technical ones, so the job description needs to reflect the degree requirement clearly. Employers with strong petitions typically document the complexity and strategic nature of partner management responsibilities.
What degree do I need for a sponsored Partner Relationship Manager position?
Most employers require a bachelor's degree in business administration, marketing, communications, or a closely related field. Some technology companies also accept degrees in computer science if the role involves managing technical partners or ISV ecosystems. The key is that your degree must align with the specific duties of the role. Generalist degrees without a clear connection to partnership strategy can complicate the H-1B petition.
Are Partner Relationship Manager roles included in the H-1B cap?
Most are cap-subject, meaning your petition enters the annual lottery held in March with an October 1 start date if selected. However, if the sponsoring employer is a university, nonprofit research institution, or certain government entities, the cap exemption may apply and you could start sooner. Cap-exempt sponsorship is rare for this role type, so plan your search around the standard April filing window.
How competitive is visa sponsorship for this role compared to technical jobs?
Business-facing roles like Partner Relationship Manager attract fewer sponsored positions than software engineering roles, but competition among international applicants is also lower. Employers in SaaS, cloud infrastructure, and enterprise technology sponsor this role regularly. Candidates who combine strong partner program metrics with clear degree alignment tend to have the most success. Migrate Mate lists employers actively sponsoring business development and partner-facing roles, which narrows the search considerably.
Can I transfer my H-1B to a new employer if I switch Partner Relationship Manager jobs?
Yes. H-1B portability allows you to transfer your existing status to a new employer once they file an H-1B transfer petition, and you can begin working for the new company as soon as the petition is received by USCIS, not just approved. The new employer must file a new LCA and I-129. You do not re-enter the lottery. The role and degree alignment requirements still apply to the new position.
What is the prevailing wage requirement for sponsored Partner Relationship Manager jobs?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
