Position Description
Client is looking for Salesforce Architect. This role is best suited for a former Senior/Lead Architect or Principal Engineer who has broad system exposure with deep expertise in Salesforce architecture, integrations, and cloud platforms, and who thrives in complex, client‑facing environments. As a Salesforce Architect, you will play a central role in designing and delivering enterprise‑scale Salesforce solutions that enhance customer and dealer experiences. This role goes beyond solution design, you will own architecture from concept through delivery, partnering closely with product owners, business leaders, delivery teams, and third‑party vendors. You will operate at both the strategic and execution levels, translating business vision into scalable Salesforce architectures while remaining sufficiently hands‑on to guide implementation decisions. Leading through influence rather than authority, you will help teams deliver secure, high‑quality, and sustainable solutions aligned with enterprise standards and long‑term platform strategy.

- Lead solution and technical design for Salesforce portals, APIs, integrations, and supporting services.
- Define and document integration frameworks connecting Salesforce with internal systems, SaaS platforms, and third‑party solutions.
- Evaluate solution alternatives and technical risks, ensuring alignment with business goals, product roadmaps, and long‑term experience strategies.
- Ensure delivered solutions meet performance, availability, security, scalability, and compliance requirements.
- Communicate complex architectural concepts clearly to both technical and non‑technical audiences.
Product & Experience Alignment
- Partner with Product Owners and Product Managers to align Salesforce solutions with evolving business needs.
- Support omnichannel user experiences, ensuring seamless integration across platforms.
- Balance near‑term delivery commitments with long‑term architectural health.
- Participate in Pre‑PI and PI Planning, translating architectural intent into actionable delivery plans.
- Collaborate with product and solution leadership to ensure appropriate investment in architectural enablement.
- Continuously evolve solution architecture as business priorities, usage patterns, and platform capabilities change.
Delivery & Technical Leadership
- Provide technical leadership and architectural vision throughout the solution delivery lifecycle.
- Lead cross‑functional technical teams through influence and collaboration.
- Identify, assess, and manage technical risks, dependencies, and constraints.
- Mentor architects, developers, and integration teams.
- Represent solution architectures to senior client and CGI stakeholders with confidence and clarity.
Architecture Governance
- Contribute to the evolution of enterprise architecture standards, patterns, and governance.
- Participate in architecture review forums to ensure consistency, reuse, and alignment with enterprise direction.
- Collaborate with peer architects across CGI to promote shared solutions and best practices.

Lead with your Salesforce certifications
Employers sponsoring H-1B visas for this role expect certifications like Salesforce Certified Application Architect or System Architect. These credentials signal specialized expertise and directly support the specialty occupation classification USCIS requires for approval.
Target employers with an active H-1B filing history
Companies that have sponsored Salesforce roles before understand the process and are far less likely to withdraw an offer mid-petition. Prioritize organizations with established immigration programs and in-house or retained immigration counsel already in place.
Position yourself as a solution architect, not a Salesforce admin
Title and job duties matter to USCIS. Ensure your offer letter and LCA reflect architecture-level responsibilities, such as enterprise design, integration strategy, and cross-cloud implementation, not configuration or support tasks that invite specialty occupation challenges.
Align your degree to the role carefully
Computer Science, Information Systems, Software Engineering, or Business Information Technology degrees align well with this role. A degree in an unrelated field may require supporting documentation showing how your education specifically prepared you for solution architecture work.
Prepare for a Request for Evidence
USCIS issues RFEs on Salesforce roles more frequently than on traditional software engineering positions. Have your employer document why a bachelor's degree in a specific field is a standard industry requirement for this position before the petition is filed.
Consider the O-1A if you have strong professional recognition
If you've spoken at Salesforce World Tour or Dreamforce, published technical content, or led enterprise implementations at recognized organizations, the O-1A visa is worth exploring. It bypasses the H-1B lottery entirely and can be filed at any time.
Frequently Asked Questions
Does a Salesforce Solution Architect role qualify as a specialty occupation for H-1B purposes?
Yes, but it requires careful documentation. USCIS expects evidence that a bachelor's degree in a specific field, such as Computer Science or Information Systems, is a standard industry requirement for the position. Roles where a generalist degree is acceptable have been challenged. Your employer's offer letter and LCA must reflect architecture-level duties, and supporting documentation like industry surveys or job postings from comparable employers can help establish the degree requirement.
How do Salesforce certifications affect my visa sponsorship chances?
Certifications like the Salesforce Certified Application Architect or System Architect credential strengthen your petition by demonstrating specialized expertise, but they do not substitute for a qualifying degree. USCIS evaluates educational background first. Certifications can be referenced as supplementary evidence of specialization, particularly in an RFE response, but a petition built on certifications alone without a relevant degree is unlikely to succeed.
Which industries sponsor the most H-1B visas for Salesforce Solution Architects?
Technology consulting firms, financial services companies, healthcare systems, and large enterprise software organizations file the most H-1B visa petitions for this role. Consulting firms such as Accenture, Deloitte, and Cognizant are historically among the top filers for Salesforce-related positions. You can browse currently sponsoring employers on Migrate Mate, where listings are filtered specifically for roles open to visa sponsorship.
Can I use work experience instead of a degree to qualify for H-1B sponsorship in this role?
The three-for-one rule allows three years of specialized work experience to substitute for one year of university education. If you hold a two-year diploma and have extensive Salesforce architecture experience, it may be possible to construct an equivalency argument. However, USCIS scrutinizes experience-based substitutions heavily for this role, and a credential evaluation from a recognized agency is required. An immigration attorney should review your profile before your employer files.
Is the O-1A visa a realistic option for experienced Salesforce Solution Architects?
For architects with a strong professional profile, yes. The O-1A requires demonstrating extraordinary ability through criteria such as high salary relative to peers, critical roles at distinguished organizations, published contributions, or recognition like awards or conference presentations. Salesforce MVP status, Dreamforce speaking engagements, or documented leadership on large-scale enterprise implementations can support multiple criteria. The O-1A has no lottery and no annual cap, making it a strategic alternative if you have the profile to support it.
What is the prevailing wage requirement for sponsored Salesforce Solution Architect jobs?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
