How to Get Visa Sponsorship as a Performance Manager
Frame your role around a specific discipline
Performance Manager spans marketing, operations, and sales functions. Clarify your specialty in applications. Employers and USCIS evaluators need a clear degree-to-role connection, so positioning yourself within a defined field strengthens your H-1B specialty occupation case.
Target employers with active LCA filings
Companies that have previously sponsored Performance Managers have already established the role as a specialty occupation internally. This prior filing history reduces friction in your petition and signals the employer understands the sponsorship process for this specific job title.
Align your degree to your performance focus
A degree in marketing, business analytics, statistics, or economics directly supports sponsorship eligibility. If your degree is in a tangentially related field, document how your coursework and experience connect to the analytical demands the role requires at that employer.
Highlight quantitative responsibilities in your offer letter
USCIS scrutinizes whether Performance Manager duties require a theoretical and practical application of specialized knowledge. Offer letters that emphasize KPI modeling, attribution analysis, and data interpretation strengthen the specialty occupation argument over generic management language.
Ask about cap-exempt sponsorship routes early
Nonprofit organizations, universities, and affiliated research institutions can file H-1B petitions outside the annual lottery cap. If you're open to those sectors, cap-exempt employers offer a faster and more reliable sponsorship path for Performance Manager positions.
Build a portfolio of measurable outcomes before applying
Sponsorship decisions often come down to demonstrated value. Performance Managers who can show clear ROI improvements, conversion rate lifts, or revenue attribution from past roles give employers a concrete business case to justify the time and cost of sponsoring a visa petition.

Does a Performance Manager role qualify as a specialty occupation for H-1B purposes?
It can, but the role needs to demonstrably require a bachelor's degree or higher in a specific field, not just any degree. Performance Manager positions tied to marketing analytics, digital advertising, or business intelligence are stronger candidates than general operations or people management roles, where USCIS may argue the position lacks a specialized degree requirement.
Which visa types are most commonly used to sponsor Performance Managers?
H-1B is the most common path, used by tech platforms, media companies, and e-commerce employers. O-1A is an option for candidates with a track record of exceptional results, industry recognition, or published work. TN visas cover Performance Manager roles for Canadian and Mexican nationals when the position maps to a qualifying USMCA occupation category such as management consultant or economist.
What degree do I need for a sponsored Performance Manager position?
Most sponsoring employers expect a bachelor's degree in marketing, business administration, statistics, data science, or a closely related analytical field. A general business degree with demonstrated quantitative coursework is often acceptable. If your degree is in an unrelated area, three years of specialized experience can substitute for one year of formal education under USCIS guidelines.
How do I find Performance Manager jobs that offer visa sponsorship?
Migrate Mate is built specifically for this search. It filters job listings by sponsorship willingness, so you're not wasting time on roles where international candidates are screened out. Performance Manager openings on Migrate Mate are from employers who have indicated they're open to or actively sponsoring work visas, which significantly narrows the field to relevant opportunities.
Are Performance Manager H-1B petitions likely to get approved?
Approval rates are solid when the petition clearly establishes specialty occupation status. The most common reason for denial or an RFE is that the role description is too broad or the employer fails to show a degree in a specific field is a genuine requirement. Petitions from established tech, media, and analytics companies with detailed job duty descriptions and clear degree prerequisites perform best.
What is the prevailing wage requirement for sponsored Performance Manager jobs?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
