Target companies with active H-1B filing histories
Employers who have filed H-1B petitions for similar roles before are far more likely to sponsor again. Focus your search on mid-size to large tech and consulting companies with established immigration processes and dedicated HR support.
Frame your degree as a specialty occupation requirement
USCIS requires the role to normally demand a specific bachelor's degree. A degree in business strategy, engineering, economics, or computer science directly supports the specialty occupation argument for Product Strategy Lead positions.
Bring up sponsorship after demonstrating value
Raise visa sponsorship after a recruiter screens you, not in your cover letter. Employers who are on the fence about sponsoring are more likely to commit once they see you're a strong candidate worth the investment and process.
Prepare documentation connecting your degree to the role
USCIS scrutinizes whether the degree requirement is genuine. A detailed offer letter specifying the educational background required for strategic product work, along with your transcripts, strengthens the specialty occupation case significantly.
Browse Migrate Mate for sponsorship-confirmed listings
Migrate Mate filters for employers actively willing to sponsor visas, saving you from applying to roles that won't progress past the offer stage. For Product Strategy Lead roles, the platform surfaces listings that already confirm sponsorship intent.

Find Product Strategy Lead JobsFrequently Asked Questions
Does a Product Strategy Lead role qualify as an H-1B specialty occupation?
Yes, in most cases. USCIS requires that the position normally demands at least a bachelor's degree in a specific field. Product Strategy Lead roles at established companies typically require degrees in business, engineering, economics, or a related discipline, which satisfies the specialty occupation standard. Roles where any degree is accepted regardless of field face a harder argument.
Which visa types do Product Strategy Lead candidates most commonly use?
H-1B is the most common path. If you have an existing H-1B with another employer, a transfer is straightforward and doesn't require a new cap lottery slot. O-1A is an option if you have documented industry recognition, publications, or a track record of leading high-impact strategy work. E-3 applies if you're an Australian citizen. TN applies to Canadian and Mexican nationals in qualifying business categories.
What degree does USCIS expect for a Product Strategy Lead petition?
There's no single required major, but the degree must be in a field directly related to the job's core duties. Business administration, strategy, economics, computer science, and industrial engineering are commonly accepted. A mismatch, such as a degree in an unrelated field, can lead to an RFE. Three years of directly relevant work experience can substitute for one year of formal education if your degree doesn't fully align.
How do I find Product Strategy Lead roles where employers will actually sponsor?
Migrate Mate is the most direct way to find Product Strategy Lead listings from employers who have confirmed they're willing to sponsor. Many general job boards include roles that list 'no sponsorship available,' which wastes application time. Filtering specifically for sponsorship-willing employers before applying is the most efficient approach at this job level.
Can a startup sponsor an H-1B for a Product Strategy Lead?
Yes, but smaller companies face higher USCIS scrutiny because they must demonstrate they have the financial ability to pay the prevailing wage and that the role is a genuine specialty occupation. Startups without prior H-1B filing history should work with an immigration attorney to prepare a strong petition. Series B and later-stage startups with institutional backing generally have a much smoother process than early-stage companies.
What is the prevailing wage requirement for sponsored Product Strategy Lead jobs?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
