Target employers with a sponsorship history
Companies that have filed Labor Condition Applications in the past are far more likely to sponsor again. Filter your search on Migrate Mate to surface Regional Coordinator roles at employers with a verified sponsorship track record.
Clarify the degree requirement upfront
H-1B eligibility requires the role to be a specialty occupation with a specific degree requirement. Ask early whether the job description specifies a required field of study, not just 'any bachelor's degree,' to avoid wasted applications.
Understand how your field maps to the role
Regional Coordinator positions span healthcare, logistics, nonprofits, and tech. Your degree field needs to align directly with the industry context of the role for a specialty occupation determination to hold up under USCIS review.
Australian candidates should evaluate the E-3 first
The E-3 visa skips the H-1B lottery entirely and is available year-round. For Australian nationals in coordination or operations roles, it's often a faster and more reliable path than waiting on H-1B cap results.
Get the job offer before the sponsorship conversation
Most employers won't commit to sponsorship during early screening. Demonstrate your value through interviews first, then raise the visa question once there's clear mutual interest. Leading with visa needs before demonstrating fit reduces your chances.
Check whether your employer qualifies as cap-exempt
Universities, teaching hospitals, and certain nonprofits affiliated with research institutions are exempt from the H-1B annual cap. Regional Coordinator roles at these organizations can be filed any time, bypassing the April lottery entirely.
Frequently Asked Questions
Can a Regional Coordinator role qualify for H-1B sponsorship?
Yes, but only if the position meets the specialty occupation standard. The job description must require a bachelor's degree in a specific field related to the work, not just any degree. Roles requiring a degree in public health, business administration, or a field directly tied to the industry context are more defensible. Generic coordination roles where any bachelor's degree is accepted often don't qualify.
Which visa types are most common for Regional Coordinator positions?
H-1B visa is the most common path, covering most nationalities. TN visas are available to Canadian and Mexican nationals in qualifying management or professional categories. Australian citizens can apply for the E-3 visa, which has no lottery and is available year-round. O-1 visa is rarely applicable unless the candidate has demonstrable extraordinary achievement in their field.
Does my degree field need to match the specific industry of the role?
Yes, and this is where many Regional Coordinator applications run into trouble. A public health degree supports a Regional Coordinator role at a healthcare network. A supply chain or logistics degree supports the same title at a distribution company. USCIS evaluates the fit between your degree and the specific job duties, not just the job title. Mismatches increase the risk of a Request for Evidence or denial.
How do I find Regional Coordinator jobs that offer visa sponsorship?
Browse Regional Coordinator listings on Migrate Mate, which filters specifically for roles open to visa sponsorship. Most general job boards don't surface sponsorship status reliably, making it difficult to know which employers are actually willing to file. Migrate Mate focuses exclusively on sponsorship-eligible listings so you're not wasting applications on roles that won't support your visa.
Are Regional Coordinator roles harder to get sponsored for than technical jobs?
Generally, yes. USCIS scrutinizes non-technical roles more closely because the specialty occupation argument is less obvious than for engineering or IT positions. Employers in healthcare, regulated industries, and larger organizations tend to have more established legal teams and stronger track records defending these petitions. Smaller employers sponsoring coordination roles for the first time face a steeper approval path.
What is the prevailing wage requirement for sponsored Regional Coordinator jobs?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
