Target employers with a history of sponsorship
Large regional employers in healthcare, retail, and technology sponsor Regional Marketing Specialists far more often than small businesses. Focus your search on companies with established HR infrastructure and previous H-1B filing records in your target metro area.
Confirm your degree field aligns with the role
H-1B approval for marketing roles requires a degree in marketing, communications, business, or a closely related field. A degree in an unrelated discipline weakens the specialty occupation argument, even if you have years of relevant marketing experience.
Understand the LCA and prevailing wage requirement
Before your employer files the H-1B petition, they must obtain a certified Labor Condition Application from the Department of Labor confirming the offered wage meets prevailing wage levels for the role and location. This step happens before USCIS ever sees your case.
Highlight regional market expertise in your application
Employers sponsoring Regional Marketing Specialists need to demonstrate the role requires specialized knowledge. Framing your expertise in specific regional markets, languages, or consumer demographics strengthens the specialty occupation case during USCIS adjudication.
Ask about cap-exempt employers early in the process
Universities, nonprofit research organizations, and certain government contractors are exempt from the H-1B annual cap and can file year-round. If you're open to these sectors, cap-exempt roles eliminate lottery risk entirely and allow faster start dates.
Use Migrate Mate to filter for sponsoring employers
Not every marketing job listing will mention visa sponsorship, but employer sponsorship history is searchable. Migrate Mate surfaces Regional Marketing Specialist roles from employers with documented sponsorship records, saving you from applying to companies that won't sponsor.

Find Regional Marketing Specialist JobsFrequently Asked Questions
Does a Regional Marketing Specialist role qualify as a specialty occupation for the H-1B?
It can, but it depends on how the employer defines the role. USCIS requires that the position normally requires a bachelor's degree or higher in a specific field. Regional marketing roles tied to a specific discipline, such as digital marketing, market research, or brand strategy, have stronger cases than generalist coordinator positions where any degree is accepted.
Which visa types are commonly used to sponsor Regional Marketing Specialists?
The H-1B is the most common pathway. Australians may qualify for the E-3, which has no lottery and is generally faster to process. Canadians and Mexicans may qualify under the TN visa for marketing roles classified under the USMCA professional categories. Exceptionally accomplished marketers with documented industry recognition may also pursue the O-1A.
How do I find Regional Marketing Specialist jobs that offer visa sponsorship?
Most standard job postings don't disclose sponsorship willingness upfront, which makes filtering difficult. Migrate Mate is specifically designed for visa-sponsored job seekers and surfaces Regional Marketing Specialist roles from employers with a history of sponsoring international workers, so you're not spending time on applications that will go nowhere.
Does a three-year bachelor's degree qualify for H-1B sponsorship in this role?
It may. USCIS accepts foreign three-year bachelor's degrees if a credentials evaluator determines they are equivalent to a U.S. four-year bachelor's degree. Australian three-year degrees are generally approved under this standard. The evaluation needs to match the degree's field to the specialty occupation, not just confirm the degree level.
What approval rates look like for H-1B petitions in marketing roles?
Marketing and communications occupations historically have lower H-1B approval rates than STEM fields because specialty occupation status is harder to establish. USCIS scrutinizes whether the degree requirement is genuinely specific to the role. Approval odds improve significantly when the job description is tightly scoped, the employer has a strong sponsorship history, and the applicant's degree directly matches the advertised role.
What is the prevailing wage requirement for sponsored Regional Marketing Specialist jobs?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
