Get Access To All JobsTips for Finding Visa Sponsorship as a Relationship Manager
Target financial services firms with established visa programs
Major banks, investment firms, and wealth management companies frequently sponsor relationship managers. Check their H-1B filing history through DOL disclosure data to identify consistent sponsors in your target markets.
Emphasize client portfolio management in your application
Position your role around portfolio strategy, risk assessment, and financial planning rather than general sales. This strengthens the specialty occupation argument by highlighting analytical and advisory responsibilities requiring specialized knowledge.
Align your degree with the position requirements
Finance, economics, business administration, or accounting degrees directly support relationship manager visa applications. If your degree is in another field, emphasize relevant coursework in financial analysis or investment principles.
Document your client relationship expertise
Highlight experience managing high-net-worth clients, institutional accounts, or complex financial portfolios. Specific examples of client retention rates, portfolio growth, or relationship development strengthen your specialty occupation case.
Consider regional banks and credit unions
Smaller financial institutions often have less competition for relationship manager positions while still maintaining visa sponsorship programs. They may offer faster hiring processes and more personalized sponsorship support than large banks.
Prepare for nonimmigrant intent scrutiny in banking
Financial sector visa applications face additional review due to regulatory oversight. Be ready to demonstrate temporary work intent and explain how your role supports U.S. business operations without conflicting with banking regulations.

Find Relationship Manager JobsFrequently Asked Questions
Do relationship managers qualify for H-1B specialty occupation status?
Yes, relationship manager positions typically qualify when they require a bachelor's degree in finance, business, economics, or related field and involve client advisory responsibilities. The role's focus on financial analysis, portfolio management, and investment strategy meets USCIS specialty occupation criteria. Generic sales positions without degree requirements may not qualify.
Which financial institutions sponsor relationship managers most frequently?
Major banks like JPMorgan Chase, Bank of America, and Wells Fargo, along with investment firms like Morgan Stanley and UBS, regularly sponsor relationship managers. Regional banks and credit unions also sponsor these roles, often with less competition. Check DOL LCA disclosure data to verify an employer's sponsorship history before applying.
Can relationship managers get L-1 visas for internal transfers?
Yes, if you've worked for a multinational financial institution for at least one year abroad, you may qualify for L-1A (managerial) or L-1B (specialized knowledge) status. The role must involve similar responsibilities and require specialized knowledge of the company's financial products, client base, or proprietary systems to qualify for L-1B.
How to find Relationship Manager jobs with visa sponsorship?
To find Relationship Manager jobs with visa sponsorship, use Migrate Mate, which specializes in connecting international candidates with sponsoring employers. Focus your search on financial services firms, banks, and wealth management companies that commonly hire Relationship Managers and offer H-1B, L-1, or other work visas. These employers typically have established sponsorship programs for client-facing finance professionals.
What degree requirements do visa applications need for relationship manager roles?
Most successful applications require a bachelor's degree in finance, business administration, economics, accounting, or related field. Some positions accept degrees in mathematics, statistics, or other analytical fields if combined with relevant financial services experience. The job posting must specify degree requirements to support the specialty occupation argument.
How do securities licenses affect relationship manager visa applications?
Securities licenses like Series 7, Series 66, or CFA certification strengthen specialty occupation arguments by demonstrating specialized knowledge requirements. However, licenses alone don't substitute for degree requirements. FINRA licensing requirements can actually support the case that the position demands specialized training and expertise beyond general business knowledge.
What is the prevailing wage requirement for sponsored Relationship Manager jobs?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
