RN Staff Nurse Jobs in USA with Visa Sponsorship
RN Staff Nurse positions qualify for H-1B visa and EB-3 visa sponsorship when they require a Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN). Most hospitals sponsor nurses, but ADN-only roles typically don't meet H-1B specialty occupation requirements. NCLEX-RN licensure and CredForce evaluation are standard requirements. For detailed occupation requirements, see the O*NET profile.

Get Access To All JobsTips for Finding Visa Sponsorship as a RN Staff Nurse
Target BSN-required positions only
H-1B sponsorship requires roles specifically demanding a BSN degree. ADN-acceptable positions rarely qualify as specialty occupations under USCIS standards, limiting visa options significantly.
Get credentials evaluated early
Foreign nursing degrees need evaluation through CGFNS or similar agencies. This process takes 8-12 weeks and hospitals won't sponsor without completed credential verification.
Pass NCLEX-RN before applying
Most sponsors require active RN licensure before filing visa petitions. Taking NCLEX-RN while on tourist status is permitted and strengthens applications considerably.
Focus on hospitals over agencies
Hospital systems sponsor more reliably than staffing agencies. Large health networks like HCA Healthcare and Kaiser Permanente have established immigration processes and resources.
Highlight specialty certifications
ICU, OR, or emergency certifications strengthen specialty occupation arguments. Specialized units often have clearer BSN requirements that support H-1B petitions effectively.

Find RN Staff Nurse JobsFrequently Asked Questions
Do RN positions qualify for H-1B sponsorship?
Yes, but only positions requiring a BSN degree. The role must specifically demand a bachelor's in nursing, not just prefer it. ADN-acceptable positions typically don't meet H-1B specialty occupation requirements. Most hospital staff nurse roles qualify, while some clinic or long-term care positions may not.
Can I get sponsored with an ADN nursing degree?
ADN alone rarely qualifies for H-1B sponsorship since most ADN-level positions don't meet specialty occupation standards. However, ADN plus significant specialized experience might qualify under the three-to-one rule, where three years of experience substitutes for one year of education. EB-3 sponsorship remains possible with ADN.
How to find RN Staff Nurse jobs with visa sponsorship?
To find RN Staff Nurse positions with visa sponsorship, use Migrate Mate, which specializes in connecting healthcare professionals with sponsoring employers. Focus your search on hospitals, healthcare systems, aged care facilities, and private clinics that commonly sponsor H-1B, EB-3, or TSS visas for registered nurses. These employers actively seek qualified international nurses to fill critical staffing needs.
What nursing credentials do I need before sponsorship?
You need a credential evaluation from CGFNS, NACES, or similar agency, plus NCLEX-RN passage for licensure. Most hospitals require active RN licensure before filing visa petitions. English proficiency tests like IELTS or TOEFL may be required. The credential evaluation process typically takes 8-12 weeks.
How long does nursing visa sponsorship take?
H-1B processing takes 3-6 months without premium processing, or 15 business days with premium processing. EB-3 green card sponsorship typically takes 12-18 months for the labor certification process, then additional time for I-140 and adjustment of status. Total EB-3 timeline often ranges 2-4 years depending on country of birth.
Which hospitals sponsor nurses most frequently?
Large hospital systems like HCA Healthcare, Kaiser Permanente, Mayo Clinic, and Cleveland Clinic sponsor regularly. Academic medical centers and Magnet hospitals often have established immigration processes. Rural hospitals may sponsor to fill critical shortages. Staffing agencies sponsor less frequently than direct hospital employers.
What is the prevailing wage requirement for sponsored RN Staff Nurse jobs?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
