Target Salesforce-heavy industries
Financial services, healthcare, and enterprise software companies run large Salesforce orgs and hire administrators regularly. These employers have established immigration programs and are far more likely to sponsor than small businesses using basic CRM setups.
Get your Salesforce certifications current
Salesforce Administrator and Advanced Administrator certifications directly strengthen the specialty occupation case for your H-1B petition. Employers filing on your behalf need to demonstrate the role requires specialized knowledge, and active certifications help make that argument.
Highlight technical complexity in your resume
USCIS scrutinizes whether Salesforce Administrator roles truly require a degree. Emphasize Apex triggers, Flow automation, API integrations, and multi-cloud implementations. Generic admin duties like managing users and running reports won't support a strong specialty occupation argument.
Prioritize employers with USCIS approval history
Some companies have sponsored Salesforce Administrators before and have petition templates ready. Targeting employers with prior approval history for this specific job title meaningfully reduces your risk of an RFE or denial on specialty occupation grounds.
Understand the degree field requirement
Your degree must relate directly to Salesforce administration work. Computer science, information systems, and business information technology degrees are well-accepted. A degree in an unrelated field will require a strong nexus argument, which adds risk to your petition.
Apply early in the H-1B registration window
H-1B registration opens in March each year for an October 1 start date. Confirming your employer's sponsorship intent and completing your LCA well before the window closes gives you time to fix errors that could disqualify your registration entirely.

Does a Salesforce Administrator role qualify as a specialty occupation for H-1B purposes?
It can, but it depends on how the role is defined. USCIS has issued RFEs on Salesforce Administrator petitions where the job description emphasized routine tasks like user management and report building. Petitions that succeed typically describe the role in terms of technical architecture, custom development, and complex system integrations that genuinely require a bachelor's degree in a specific field.
What degree do I need to get H-1B or E-3 sponsorship as a Salesforce Administrator?
A bachelor's degree in computer science, information systems, management information systems, or business information technology is the strongest fit. Some employers have successfully sponsored candidates with degrees in business or finance when the role involved significant Salesforce configuration and integration work. What matters is that the degree relates to the technical duties described in the petition, not just the job title.
Are Salesforce Administrator roles commonly sponsored by U.S. employers?
Yes, particularly at mid-size and enterprise companies where Salesforce is a core business system. Financial services firms, SaaS companies, healthcare organizations, and large retailers are consistent sponsors. Smaller companies using Salesforce for basic contact management rarely sponsor because the role doesn't meet the specialty occupation threshold at that complexity level. Browse Migrate Mate to find employers actively hiring Salesforce Administrators with visa sponsorship.
What is the approval rate for H-1B petitions filed for Salesforce Administrators?
USCIS doesn't publish approval rates by job title, but Salesforce Administrator petitions have historically faced above-average RFE rates compared to software engineering roles. Petitions emphasizing Apex development, Lightning component work, and multi-system integrations tend to perform better. Employers with prior approved petitions for this title carry significantly less risk than first-time sponsors filing for the role.
Can I get E-3 visa sponsorship as a Salesforce Administrator if I'm Australian?
Yes. The E-3 visa is available to Australian citizens and follows the same specialty occupation standard as the H-1B, but without the lottery. For Salesforce Administrators, the same logic applies: the job description needs to reflect technical complexity and a degree requirement. E-3 applications are processed at Australian consulates, typically within a few weeks, making it a faster path than waiting for H-1B selection.
What is the prevailing wage requirement for sponsored Salesforce Administrator jobs?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
