How to Get Visa Sponsorship in VP Of Product
Target companies with a history of senior H-1B filings
Large tech companies and well-funded startups regularly sponsor H-1B visas at the VP level. Prioritize employers who have filed for senior product roles before, since they already have internal processes for executive-level sponsorship.
Position your O-1A eligibility early in conversations
VP-level candidates often meet O-1A criteria through industry recognition, published work, or high compensation relative to peers. Raising this option early signals immigration sophistication and opens a faster, lottery-free path to work authorization.
Clarify sponsorship scope before final-round interviews
Confirm whether the employer covers H-1B filing fees, premium processing, and future green card sponsorship. VP hires are expensive investments, so most companies sponsoring at this level expect to support the full immigration lifecycle.
Align your degree field to the product discipline
USCIS requires a direct relationship between your degree and the VP of Product role. Degrees in computer science, engineering, or business administration are the strongest fits. A mismatched degree can require additional documentation to establish specialty occupation.
Expect premium processing at this seniority level
Most companies hiring VP-level candidates can't afford a six-month wait on USCIS standard processing. Premium processing, which accelerates the decision to 15 business days, is commonly offered for senior roles and is worth confirming upfront.
Use Migrate Mate to find employers already open to sponsorship
Browsing VP of Product listings on Migrate Mate filters for employers actively willing to sponsor, saving significant time. Reaching out to companies already on the platform reduces the risk of investing in a process the employer will ultimately decline.

Get Access To All JobsFrequently Asked Questions
Can a VP of Product role qualify for H-1B sponsorship?
Yes. VP of Product roles consistently qualify as H-1B specialty occupations because they require at minimum a bachelor's degree in a specific field such as computer science, engineering, or business. USCIS approval rates for senior product management roles are strong, particularly when the job description clearly ties the duties to a specific academic discipline.
Does my degree field need to match the VP of Product job description exactly?
Not exactly, but there must be a logical, documentable relationship. A degree in computer science, business administration, information systems, or engineering is generally sufficient. If your degree is in an unrelated field, your employer's immigration attorney will need to build a case using work experience equivalencies, which adds complexity but is not disqualifying.
Is the O-1A visa a realistic option for VP of Product candidates?
For many VP-level candidates, yes. The O-1A requires demonstrating extraordinary ability through criteria such as high remuneration relative to peers, critical employment at a distinguished organization, or original contributions to the field. Senior product leaders with a track record of scaled products, industry recognition, or advisory board roles often meet multiple criteria without realizing it.
How common is green card sponsorship for VP of Product roles?
It's standard at established tech companies and common at growth-stage startups with dedicated HR infrastructure. Most companies that sponsor H-1B visas at the VP level will also sponsor EB-1C or EB-2 green cards, though timelines depend heavily on your country of birth. Indian and Chinese nationals face significantly longer waits due to per-country backlog limits.
Where can I find VP of Product jobs that explicitly offer visa sponsorship?
Migrate Mate lists VP of Product roles from employers who are open to sponsorship, so you're not guessing which companies will engage. At the VP level, sponsorship conversations can consume weeks of back-and-forth with HR and legal, so starting with employers already committed to the process is a meaningful advantage.
What is the prevailing wage requirement for sponsored VP Of Product jobs?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
