Tips for Your Workers Compensation Claims Adjuster Job Search
Tailor your resume to claim complexity
Hiring managers scan for the types of claims you've handled, not just job titles. Specify whether your experience covers medical-only, lost-time, or litigated claims, and note your average caseload size and the jurisdictions you've worked in.
Highlight your state adjuster license
Many postings require a state-specific adjuster license before day one. List every state you're licensed in near the top of your resume, and flag any non-resident licenses separately so recruiters don't overlook multi-state candidates.
Filter openings by claims management system
Employers often list a required platform like Guidewire, Salesforce, or a proprietary TPA system. When you search, match your experience to those tools in your application so your resume clears automated screening before a human reviews it.
Apply early to roles that fit
Migrate Mate lists workers compensation claims adjuster openings from across the United States in one place, so you can find roles that match and apply directly to each listing.
Prepare for a simulation-style interview
Many insurers test candidates with a mock claim scenario during the interview. Practice walking through an initial investigation, reserve-setting rationale, and a denial letter out loud so your reasoning is clear under pressure.
Negotiate using jurisdiction expertise
If you have deep experience in high-volume or high-complexity states, name those states explicitly when discussing compensation. Specialized jurisdictional knowledge is harder to replace than general adjusting experience and often supports a stronger offer.
Workers Compensation Claims Adjuster Jobs: Frequently Asked Questions
How many workers compensation claims adjuster jobs are remote?
About 100% of workers compensation claims adjuster openings are fully remote or hybrid as of June 2026, with the largest share in field-free roles focused on medical-only and lost-time claims. Positions requiring in-person field investigations or deposition attendance are more likely to remain on-site or follow a hybrid schedule.
How do you become a workers compensation claims adjuster?
Start by earning a bachelor's degree in business, insurance, or a related field, or build equivalent experience through an entry-level claims examiner role. Obtain a state adjuster license for the jurisdictions you plan to work in, as most employers require this before hire. Gaining hands-on experience with lost-time claims and a claims management system strengthens your candidacy significantly.
Can you get a workers compensation claims adjuster job with little experience?
Yes, entry-level workers compensation claims adjuster roles exist, particularly at large carriers and TPAs that run structured training programs. Applying for medical-only or first-notice-of-loss positions is the most direct path in. A relevant adjuster license, even if newly obtained, and familiarity with a claims platform will make your application competitive against candidates with no prior experience.
What does the workers compensation claims adjuster interview process look like?
Most employers start with a phone screen focused on your claims experience and licensure, followed by one or two rounds with a hiring manager and team lead. Expect scenario-based questions about claim investigation, reserve-setting decisions, and handling disputed claims. Some insurers include a written exercise or mock claim file review before extending an offer.
Where can I find and apply to workers compensation claims adjuster jobs?
You can find and apply to workers compensation claims adjuster jobs on Migrate Mate, which lists current openings from employers across the United States. Search the listings to find roles that match your experience and licensure, then apply directly to each one that fits.
