X-Ray Tech Jobs in New Mexico: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a x-ray tech in New Mexico?
To work as an x-ray tech in New Mexico, you must hold an active license issued by the New Mexico Medical Imaging and Radiation Therapy Board, which requires completing an accredited radiologic technology program and passing the ARRT radiography examination. Most programs are associate-degree level and take about two years to finish. After passing the ARRT exam, you apply directly to the state board for licensure before practicing in New Mexico.
Which companies hire x-ray techs in New Mexico?
Companies currently hiring x-ray techs in New Mexico include Presbyterian Healthcare Services, Provice, and CompuRay Medical Staffing, per current listings on Migrate Mate as of October 2026. Presbyterian Healthcare Services and University of New Mexico Hospital are among the largest and most consistent employers of x-ray techs in the state.
Which New Mexico cities have the most x-ray tech jobs?
Albuquerque, Los Alamos, and Artesia are the cities with the most x-ray tech openings in New Mexico. Albuquerque dominates because it is home to the state's largest hospital systems and academic medical center, while Santa Fe and Las Cruces draw demand from their own regional hospitals and growing outpatient imaging networks.
Are there remote x-ray tech jobs in New Mexico?
Yes, but they're rare. About 0% of x-ray tech openings tied to New Mexico are remote or hybrid as of October 2026, which reflects the hands-on nature of most imaging work. The portion of the role most likely to be performed remotely is teleradiology support or image quality review, which some larger systems offer to experienced techs.
How can I get hired as a x-ray tech in New Mexico with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is applying for new-graduate or limited-permit positions at New Mexico's larger hospital systems, particularly Presbyterian Healthcare Services and University of New Mexico Hospital, both of which periodically hire new graduates and provide supervised clinical orientation. Working as a patient care technician or radiology aide at a hospital first is a common lateral move that builds familiarity and makes candidates more competitive. Holding your New Mexico state license and ARRT credential from the start gives you a clear edge over applicants who are still completing those requirements.
Where can I find and apply to x-ray tech jobs in New Mexico?
You can find and apply to x-ray tech jobs in New Mexico on Migrate Mate, which lists current openings tied to the state. Search the roles available, find the ones that match your experience and credentials, and apply directly through each listing.
