Who's Hiring

Administrative Assistant Jobs in Richmond: Frequently Asked Questions
How do I get a administrative assistant job in Richmond?
Focus your search on Richmond's three strongest hiring pockets: state and local government agencies concentrated downtown, the healthcare systems anchored near the medical district, and the legal and financial services firms in the Shockoe Bottom and Carytown corridors. Candidates who tailor their resume to the specific sector, demonstrate proficiency in calendar management and document processing software, and highlight any experience with government or regulated-industry workflows stand out in this market.
Which companies hire administrative assistants in Richmond?
Employers hiring administrative assistants in Richmond right now include DHL, Eaton, and Genworth, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of August 2026. Richmond's mix of state agencies, major health systems, regional law firms, and financial institutions means there is consistent demand across both the public and private sectors throughout the year.
Are there remote administrative assistant jobs in Richmond?
Yes, though availability depends heavily on the role. Administrative assistant work is frequently on-site because it involves managing physical spaces, greeting visitors, and supporting in-person operations. About 30% of administrative assistant openings tied to Richmond are remote or hybrid as of August 2026, with those options most common at technology firms and corporate back-office functions rather than government agencies or healthcare campuses.
How can I get a administrative assistant job in Richmond with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path in Richmond is through the city's large state and local government agencies, which regularly post administrative support roles with structured onboarding and clearly defined requirements that favor reliability over years of experience. Temp-to-hire placements through Richmond-area staffing firms are another practical route, placing candidates into short-term assignments at healthcare systems or legal offices that frequently convert to permanent roles. Demonstrating proficiency in Microsoft Office and familiarity with records management gives entry-level applicants a concrete edge locally.
