Most agency sales managers in New York begin by obtaining a New York Department of Financial Services insurance producer license, either in Property and Casualty or Life and Health, depending on the agency's focus. From there, candidates typically spend several years as a producing agent before moving into a supervisory role. A bachelor's degree in business or a related field strengthens a candidacy, and designations like CIC or ChFC are well regarded by New York employers.
How much do agency sales managers make in New York?
Agency sales managers in New York earn a median of about $217,640 a year, based on May 2025 Bureau of Labor Statistics wage data, ranging from around $107,670 for the lowest 10% to over $378,910 for the top 10%. Pay rises with experience, specialty, and employer.
Which companies hire agency sales managers in New York?
Employers hiring agency sales managers in New York right now include State Farm, TikTok, and Agency Within, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of June 2026. New York's dense concentration of insurance carriers, independent brokerages, and financial services firms means hiring is ongoing across both major carriers and regional agencies headquartered downstate and in the Hudson Valley.
Which New York cities have the most agency sales manager jobs?
New York, Elma, and Long Island City have the most agency sales manager openings in New York. New York City dominates because of its headquarters-dense insurance and financial services sector, while White Plains and Buffalo serve as regional hubs for national carriers with large upstate and suburban agency networks that require dedicated sales management.
Are there remote agency sales manager jobs in New York?
Yes, but they're less common than in purely desk-based roles because agency sales managers are expected to coach agents, attend client meetings, and build local referral relationships in person. About 0% of agency sales manager openings tied to New York are remote or hybrid as of June 2026, and those tend to cover territory management and reporting functions rather than day-to-day agent development.
How can I get hired as a agency sales manager in New York with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is to join a New York carrier or large independent brokerage as a licensed producer, then pursue an internal promotion after demonstrating consistent production. New York Life and MetLife both run structured development programs in their New York metro agencies that prepare top producers for management tracks. Holding an active New York producer license and adding a designation like LUTCF signals to hiring managers that you are management-ready even without prior supervisory experience.
