Android Engineer Jobs in Texas: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a android engineer in Texas?
Android engineering has no state-issued license in Texas, so the path runs through education and demonstrated skill. Most Texas employers hire candidates with a bachelor's degree in computer science or software engineering, though strong portfolio work and published apps on the Google Play Store carry significant weight. Earning an Associate Android Developer certification from Google strengthens a candidacy. Texas's large tech and telecom employers consistently prioritize hands-on Kotlin experience over credentials alone.
How much do android engineers make in Texas?
Android engineers in Texas earn a median of about $132,150 a year, based on May 2025 Bureau of Labor Statistics wage data, ranging from around $82,600 for the lowest 10% to over $183,680 for the top 10%. Pay rises with experience, specialty, and employer.
Which companies hire android engineers in Texas?
Employers hiring android engineers in Texas right now include Apple, Speechify, and NTT DATA, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of June 2026. Texas's mix of telecom headquarters, defense contractors, and fast-growing fintech firms means demand comes from both large enterprise teams and well-funded product companies.
Which Texas cities have the most android engineer jobs?
Austin, Dallas, and Plano have the most android engineer openings in Texas. Austin's dense concentration of tech companies and corporate headquarters drives the highest volume, while Dallas benefits from major telecom and financial services employers, and Houston's energy-tech and healthcare-IT sectors generate steady demand for mobile engineers.
Are there remote android engineer jobs in Texas?
Yes, and more than most fields. Android engineering is a desk-based, code-first discipline that adapts well to fully remote or hybrid arrangements. About 30% of android engineer openings tied to Texas are remote or hybrid as of June 2026, reflecting the broader norm across software roles. The work most commonly done remotely includes feature development and code review, while on-site arrangements tend to appear in defense and government-adjacent roles requiring facility access.
How can I get hired as a android engineer in Texas with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is building and publishing at least one complete Android application to the Google Play Store before applying. Large Texas employers like Dell, AT&T, and Texas Instruments run new-graduate and rotational engineering programs that accept candidates without professional experience. Associate or junior mobile developer roles, as well as lateral moves from QA engineering or front-end web development, are common doors into Android teams. Earning the Associate Android Developer certification from Google gives early-career candidates a concrete, verifiable credential that Texas hiring managers recognize.
Where can I find and apply to android engineer jobs in Texas?
You can find and apply to android engineer jobs in Texas on Migrate Mate, which lists current openings tied to the Texas market. Search the available roles, find the ones that fit your experience and preferences, and apply directly to each position from the listing.
