- Experience implementing or configuring enterprise software platforms such as Salesforce, SAP, or Workday

Tips for Your Application Consultant Job Search
Tailor your resume to each platform
Application consultants are often hired for a specific platform, so listing Salesforce, SAP, or Workday in your resume header signals fit immediately. Recruiters scan for the platform name first, then dig into your implementation experience.
Quantify your implementation outcomes
Hiring managers want to know how many end users you onboarded, how many modules you configured, or how fast go-live happened. Replace vague phrases like 'assisted with deployment' with specific delivery milestones you owned or contributed to directly.
Target roles by deployment methodology
Some employers run waterfall implementations, others use agile sprints. Filtering your search by methodology terms in the job description, then mirroring that language in your application, shows you understand how their team actually delivers projects.
Apply early to roles that fit
Migrate Mate lists application consultant openings from across the United States in one place, so you can find roles that match and apply directly to each listing.
Prepare a configuration scenario for interviews
Many application consultant interviews include a live demo or walkthrough where you configure a module or map a business process. Practicing a tight five-minute scenario using a free sandbox environment shows hands-on readiness that a resume alone cannot.
Negotiate your travel expectations upfront
Client-facing consultant roles often carry implicit travel expectations that differ from what the posting states. Ask directly about on-site requirements during your first interview so you can evaluate whether the role matches your actual availability before receiving an offer.
Application Consultant Jobs: Frequently Asked Questions
Which companies are hiring the most application consultants?
The companies hiring the most application consultants right now include Amazon Web Services, Capgemini, and NTT DATA, with the largest share of openings in Virginia, Texas, and California, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of August 2026. Demand is concentrated in professional services firms and large enterprise software vendors with active implementation practices.
How many application consultant jobs are remote?
About 83% of application consultant openings are fully remote or hybrid as of August 2026, making it one of the more flexible consulting roles available. Post-implementation support, training delivery, and configuration work tend to be the most remote-friendly sub-areas, while initial discovery and go-live phases more often require on-site presence.
How do you become an application consultant?
Start by earning a degree in information systems, business administration, or a related field, then pursue a platform-specific certification in a widely adopted enterprise system. Build hands-on experience through internships, entry-level implementation analyst roles, or sandbox projects you can demo. Client-facing communication skills are as important as technical configuration ability, so practice translating business problems into system solutions.
Can you get hired as an application consultant with little or no experience?
Yes, many employers hire junior application consultants or implementation analysts who come from adjacent roles such as business analysis, IT support, or customer success. Earning a free or low-cost platform certification and building a demo project in a sandbox environment gives you concrete evidence of hands-on ability that partially offsets limited professional experience when applying.
What does the application consultant interview process look like?
Most application consultant interviews include a recruiter screen, a hiring manager conversation focused on past implementations or client scenarios, and a technical or platform exercise where you configure a module, map a process, or walk through a requirements-gathering approach. Final rounds often involve a panel with a project manager or delivery lead who evaluates how you communicate with non-technical stakeholders.
Where can I find and apply to application consultant jobs?
You can find and apply to application consultant jobs on Migrate Mate, which lists current openings from across the United States. Find roles that match your platform experience and seniority level, then apply directly to each listing.
