Ar Specialist Jobs in Tennessee: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a ar specialist in Tennessee?
There is no state-issued license required to work as an ar specialist in Tennessee, so the path runs through education and employer-recognized credentials. Most hiring managers in Tennessee expect at least an associate degree in accounting, business, or healthcare administration. Earning a Certified Revenue Cycle Specialist credential through the American Association of Healthcare Administrative Management strengthens a candidacy considerably, particularly for roles inside Tennessee's large hospital systems and physician group practices.
Which companies hire ar specialists in Tennessee?
Employers hiring ar specialists in Tennessee right now include OneOncology, Knoxville-Knox County Community Action Committee, and ScionHealth, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of October 2026. Tennessee's concentration of large regional hospital systems and corporate healthcare services companies means ar specialist openings are among the more stable and recurring postings in the state.
Which Tennessee cities have the most ar specialist jobs?
Knoxville, Brentwood, and Nashville account for the most ar specialist openings in Tennessee. Nashville leads because it is home to the corporate headquarters of major healthcare companies and large academic medical centers, while Memphis and Knoxville generate consistent demand through their regional hospital networks, large physician practices, and healthcare services firms that anchor local employment.
Are there remote ar specialist jobs in Tennessee?
Yes, and more than most fields. About 50% of ar specialist openings tied to Tennessee are remote or hybrid as of October 2026, reflecting the largely desk-based, software-driven nature of the work. Claims follow-up, denial management, and insurance reconciliation are the functions most commonly performed fully remote, while roles that require direct patient interaction or on-site billing audits tend to stay in-office.
How can I get hired as a ar specialist in Tennessee with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry point is a patient access representative or medical billing assistant role at one of Tennessee's large hospital systems, where on-the-job training covers claims submission and payment posting before candidates move into collections. HCA Healthcare and Vanderbilt University Medical Center both run structured onboarding tracks suited to candidates without direct ar experience. Completing a medical billing and coding certificate through a Tennessee community college and gaining familiarity with Epic or Meditech gives a candidate a clear edge at the application stage.
Where can I find and apply to ar specialist jobs in Tennessee?
You can find and apply to ar specialist jobs in Tennessee on Migrate Mate, which lists current Tennessee openings updated regularly. Search the listings for roles that match your experience level and preferred location, then apply directly to the ones that fit.
