Operational Excellence Manager Jobs in Tennessee: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a operational excellence manager in Tennessee?
The path to an operational excellence manager role in Tennessee typically starts with a bachelor's degree in industrial engineering, operations management, or business, followed by Lean Six Sigma certification. Tennessee has no state-issued license specific to this role, but employers here consistently value ASQ-recognized credentials such as the Certified Manager of Quality and the Six Sigma Black Belt. Building experience in Tennessee's dominant sectors, particularly automotive manufacturing and healthcare, accelerates advancement into management.
How much do operational excellence managers make in Tennessee?
Operational excellence managers in Tennessee earn a median of about $106,970 a year, based on May 2025 Bureau of Labor Statistics wage data, ranging from around $50,820 for the lowest 10% to over $230,660 for the top 10%. Pay rises with experience, specialty, and employer.
Which companies hire operational excellence managers in Tennessee?
Employers hiring operational excellence managers in Tennessee right now include Deloitte, Augmentis, and Amazon, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of August 2026. Tennessee's concentration of automotive assembly plants, large health systems, and major distribution hubs means demand for this role is spread across multiple industries rather than clustered in a single sector.
Which Tennessee cities have the most operational excellence manager jobs?
Nashville, Hermitage, and Morristown account for the most operational excellence manager openings in Tennessee. Nashville drives volume through its large healthcare and corporate headquarters presence, Memphis is fueled by logistics and distribution operations centered on FedEx and related supply chain firms, and Chattanooga benefits from its automotive manufacturing corridor anchored by Volkswagen and a growing advanced manufacturing ecosystem.
Are there remote operational excellence manager jobs in Tennessee?
Yes, but they're limited. Operational excellence managers frequently work on the plant floor or embedded within clinical or warehouse operations, making fully remote arrangements uncommon for most roles. About 0% of operational excellence manager openings tied to Tennessee are remote or hybrid as of August 2026, and when remote work is available it tends to apply to the reporting, analysis, and program governance portions of the job rather than frontline improvement work.
How can I get hired as a operational excellence manager in Tennessee with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is moving laterally from a production supervisor, quality technician, or industrial engineer role into a process improvement coordinator position. Tennessee manufacturers such as those operating in the Chattanooga and Smyrna automotive corridors, along with large health systems in Nashville, regularly bring in associates to support Lean and Six Sigma projects before promoting them into manager roles. Earning a Lean Six Sigma Green Belt while in an adjacent role demonstrates readiness and is the credential Tennessee hiring managers cite most often for candidates without direct management experience.
Where can I find and apply to operational excellence manager jobs in Tennessee?
