Area Business Manager Jobs in Georgia: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a area business manager in Georgia?
Most area business managers in Georgia enter through a bachelor's degree in business, marketing, or a related field, followed by experience in outside sales or account management. Georgia does not require a state-issued license for the general role, but pharmaceutical and medical device employers often require manufacturer-specific training programs or clinical certifications before field deployment. Building territory management experience with a mid-size Georgia company is the most common path to senior area business manager roles.
How much do area business managers make in Georgia?
Area business managers in Georgia earn a median of about $103,730 a year, based on May 2025 Bureau of Labor Statistics wage data, ranging from around $47,440 for the lowest 10% to over $237,460 for the top 10%. Pay rises with experience, specialty, and employer.
Which companies hire area business managers in Georgia?
Employers hiring area business managers in Georgia right now include Pharvaris, Domino's, and Merck KGaA, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of August 2026. Georgia's concentration of Fortune 500 headquarters and major distribution hubs in the Atlanta metro means large national companies frequently post area business manager openings here across consumer goods, healthcare, and financial services sectors.
Which Georgia cities have the most area business manager jobs?
Atlanta, Athens, and Duluth have the most area business manager openings in Georgia. Atlanta dominates because it is home to major corporate headquarters and regional offices in pharmaceuticals, consumer goods, and financial services, while Savannah and Augusta draw openings from their strong logistics, healthcare, and manufacturing employer bases that require dedicated territory coverage.
Are there remote area business manager jobs in Georgia?
Yes, but they're rare. Area business managers are territory-based roles that typically require in-person client visits and on-site account management, which limits remote work. About 0% of area business manager openings tied to Georgia are remote or hybrid as of August 2026, and those tend to be inside sales oversight or national account management functions that do not require daily field travel.
How can I get hired as a area business manager in Georgia with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is starting as a sales representative or account coordinator with a Georgia-based employer in pharmaceuticals, consumer goods, or financial services, then moving into territory management after demonstrating consistent results. Large Georgia employers like Anthem and Danaher run structured sales development programs that recruit candidates without prior management experience. Earning a Certified Sales Professional credential strengthens applications, and targeting smaller Georgia distributors or regional manufacturers first makes the transition to a named-territory role more achievable.
