Area Business Manager Jobs in Texas: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a area business manager in Texas?
Most area business manager roles in Texas require a bachelor's degree in business, marketing, or a related discipline, combined with prior outside sales or account management experience. Texas does not issue a state license specific to this role, so hiring decisions hinge on a verifiable record of quota attainment and territory growth. Candidates in pharmaceutical or medical device sales often strengthen their applications with CNPR certification or comparable industry credentials recognized by Texas-based employers.
How much do area business managers make in Texas?
Area business managers in Texas earn a median of about $103,230 a year, based on May 2025 Bureau of Labor Statistics wage data, ranging from around $46,190 for the lowest 10% to over $264,620 for the top 10%. Pay rises with experience, specialty, and employer.
Which companies hire area business managers in Texas?
Employers hiring area business managers in Texas right now include Beckman Coulter Diagnostics, Stellantis, and Energy Transfer, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of June 2026. Texas's size and industrial diversity mean hiring is spread across healthcare, energy, technology, and consumer goods sectors, giving candidates a wide range of industries to target.
Which Texas cities have the most area business manager jobs?
Houston, Austin, and Dallas have the most area business manager openings in Texas. Houston leads because of its concentration of energy, petrochemical, and healthcare employers, Dallas-Fort Worth draws heavily from corporate headquarters in technology and financial services, and Austin's expanding technology sector and consumer brands have made it a fast-growing market for territory-based sales leadership.
Are there remote area business manager jobs in Texas?
Yes, but they're rare. Area business manager roles are inherently field-based, built around in-person client visits and territory coverage, so fully remote positions make up a small share of the market. About 8% of area business manager openings tied to Texas are remote or hybrid as of June 2026, and those tend to be roles where strategic planning and reporting outweigh daily on-site presence, such as regional oversight or key account positions.
How can I get hired as a area business manager in Texas with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is a territory sales representative role, which large Texas-based employers in pharmaceutical, medical device, and consumer goods use as a pipeline into area management. Companies such as Abbott and Dell Technologies run structured associate sales programs in their Texas divisions that are explicitly designed for candidates without prior field experience. Building a portfolio of consistent quota results in an inside sales or customer success role at a Texas employer and pairing it with a CNPR certificate or an MBA from a Texas business school significantly improves the path to an area business manager title.
Where can I find and apply to area business manager jobs in Texas?
You can find and apply to area business manager jobs in Texas on Migrate Mate, which lists current openings across the state. Search the listings, find roles that fit your background and preferred Texas market, and apply directly to the employers posting them.
