Strategy Consultant Jobs in Texas: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a strategy consultant in Texas?
Most strategy consultant roles in Texas require a bachelor's degree in business, economics, finance, or a related field, with top firms strongly preferring candidates from accredited Texas universities such as UT Austin, Rice, or SMU. No state-issued license is required for management consulting in Texas. Gaining an MBA and building experience in a Texas-dominant industry such as energy, healthcare, or technology significantly strengthens a candidate's profile with Dallas-Fort Worth and Houston firms.
How much do strategy consultants make in Texas?
Strategy consultants in Texas earn a median of about $101,400 a year, based on May 2025 Bureau of Labor Statistics wage data, ranging from around $62,730 for the lowest 10% to over $168,420 for the top 10%. Pay rises with experience, specialty, and employer.
Which companies hire strategy consultants in Texas?
Employers hiring strategy consultants in Texas right now include Alvarez & Marsal, Boston Consulting, and EY, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of June 2026. Texas's concentration of Fortune 500 headquarters in the Dallas-Fort Worth area and major energy and healthcare enterprises in Houston means both global consulting firms and large in-house corporate strategy teams are consistently active.
Which Texas cities have the most strategy consultant jobs?
Dallas, Houston, and Austin account for the largest share of strategy consultant openings in Texas. Dallas-Fort Worth's density of corporate headquarters and financial services firms drives the highest volume, Houston's energy and healthcare sectors create sustained demand for industry-focused strategy roles, and Austin's fast-growing technology and venture-backed company base supports a strong and expanding market for strategy consultants.
Are there remote strategy consultant jobs in Texas?
Yes, and more than most fields. About 26% of strategy consultant openings tied to Texas are remote or hybrid as of June 2026, reflecting the largely analytical and advisory nature of the work. Research, modeling, and internal strategy roles tend to offer the most flexibility, while client-facing engagement work typically requires in-person presence at client sites.
How can I get hired as a strategy consultant in Texas with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is joining a large Texas employer's in-house strategy rotation or a consulting firm's analyst program designed for recent graduates. Deloitte, Accenture, and KPMG all run structured analyst cohorts with Texas offices that recruit new graduates directly. Lateral moves from finance analyst, operations analyst, or business analyst roles at Texas-based energy companies or health systems are a common bridge, and a strong quantitative portfolio or case competition record gives candidates without consulting experience a meaningful advantage.
Where can I find and apply to strategy consultant jobs in Texas?
You can find and apply to strategy consultant jobs in Texas on Migrate Mate, which lists current openings from employers hiring across the state. Find a role that fits your experience and target industry, then apply directly.
