Solutions Engineering Manager Jobs in Texas: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a solutions engineering manager in Texas?
The typical path into a solutions engineering manager role in Texas starts with several years as an individual-contributor solutions engineer or sales engineer, followed by a move into team lead or technical manager responsibilities. There is no state-issued license required in Texas for this role. Employers generally expect a bachelor's degree in engineering, computer science, or a related technical field, and many prefer candidates who have experience in Texas's dominant verticals, including enterprise software, energy technology, and telecommunications.
How much do solutions engineering managers make in Texas?
Solutions engineering managers in Texas earn a median of about $171,370 a year, based on May 2025 Bureau of Labor Statistics wage data, ranging from around $120,460 for the lowest 10% to over $277,790 for the top 10%. Pay rises with experience, specialty, and employer.
Which companies hire solutions engineering managers in Texas?
Employers hiring solutions engineering managers in Texas right now include Apple, Michels, and Amazon, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of August 2026. Texas's concentration of technology headquarters and enterprise sales operations means these openings tend to be tied to established product lines and multi-state customer bases.
Which Texas cities have the most solutions engineering manager jobs?
Austin, Dallas, and Houston lead in solutions engineering manager openings across Texas. Austin's density of cloud and SaaS companies drives much of the volume there, while Dallas and Houston attract openings tied to large enterprise accounts in financial services, energy, and telecommunications, where vendors maintain regional headquarters or major field sales offices.
Are there remote solutions engineering manager jobs in Texas?
Yes, and more than many technical management roles, because solutions engineering work is heavily centered on communication, documentation, and virtual customer engagement rather than on-site equipment or physical facilities. About 33% of solutions engineering manager openings tied to Texas are remote or hybrid as of August 2026. The portions of the role most likely to stay remote are proposal development, technical discovery calls, and internal team coaching.
How can I get hired as a solutions engineering manager in Texas with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is moving into a solutions engineering manager role from a senior individual-contributor position, such as solutions engineer, pre-sales architect, or technical account manager. Large Texas-based employers like Dell Technologies and Cisco regularly hire associate and mid-level solutions engineers who build toward team leadership over time. Earning a recognized cloud certification, such as an AWS or Azure credential, strengthens a candidacy significantly and is widely referenced in Texas job postings for this role.
