Assistant Project Manager Jobs in Columbus: Frequently Asked Questions
How do I get a assistant project manager job in Columbus?
Focus your search on Columbus's construction and development sector along the I-270 corridor, the healthcare systems based in the Medical Center district, and the growing technology firms in the Short North and Easton areas. Candidates who have hands-on experience with scheduling tools like MS Project or Procore stand out, and familiarity with Columbus's active commercial real estate pipeline gives a clear edge in the local market.
Which companies hire assistant project managers in Columbus?

Yes, though availability depends heavily on the role type. About 12% of assistant project manager openings tied to Columbus are remote or hybrid as of August 2026, with the remote options concentrating in technology, software implementation, and corporate operations rather than construction or facilities management, which typically require an on-site presence.

The most realistic entry path in Columbus is through coordinator or project administrator roles at mid-size general contractors or healthcare systems, where you support senior project managers directly and build hands-on exposure. Columbus employers in commercial construction and higher education expansion projects regularly hire juniors who hold a relevant degree and have completed an internship. Volunteering with community development organizations in neighborhoods like Franklinton can also build a local portfolio and contacts.
