Assistant Property Manager Jobs in Louisiana: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a assistant property manager in Louisiana?
Most Louisiana employers require an active real estate license issued by the Louisiana Real Estate Commission, which means completing approved pre-licensing education and passing the state exam before you can manage or lease residential property. You apply through the Louisiana Real Estate Commission directly. A background in business administration or a related field helps, and many candidates start in leasing consultant roles before moving into an assistant property manager position.
Which companies hire assistant property managers in Louisiana?
Louisiana assistant property manager roles are posted by Castle Row, The ITEX, and Big Easy Management and others right now, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of August 2026. Louisiana's multifamily and commercial sectors draw national property management firms as well as regional operators with large portfolios concentrated in the New Orleans and Baton Rouge metro areas.
Which Louisiana cities have the most assistant property manager jobs?
New Orleans, Houma, and Lafayette have the most assistant property manager openings in Louisiana. New Orleans drives the largest volume given its dense rental market and ongoing post-storm redevelopment activity, while Baton Rouge benefits from its university population and state government workforce creating steady apartment demand, and Shreveport's role as a regional commercial hub supports openings across both residential and retail property management.
Are there remote assistant property manager jobs in Louisiana?
Yes, but they're rare. About 0% of assistant property manager openings tied to Louisiana are remote or hybrid as of August 2026, which reflects how hands-on the role is by nature. The parts of the job most suited to remote work are administrative tasks like lease processing, reporting, and vendor communication, while on-site responsibilities such as property walkthroughs and tenant interactions require a physical presence.
How can I get hired as a assistant property manager in Louisiana with little or no experience?
Starting as a leasing consultant is the most realistic entry path, since it builds the tenant relations and software skills Louisiana employers look for before promoting into an assistant property manager role. Large multifamily operators with Louisiana portfolios frequently hire leasing agents without prior property management experience and provide on-the-job training. Obtaining your Louisiana real estate license early gives you a meaningful edge, and community college programs in business or real estate at institutions like Delgado Community College can support that credential.
