Assistant Property Manager Jobs in Houston: Frequently Asked Questions
How do I get an assistant property manager job in Houston?
Focus your search on Houston's multifamily residential sector, which is one of the most active in the country, along with commercial office and mixed-use properties in areas like Midtown, the Galleria, and the Energy Corridor. Property management companies, REITs, and large residential developers hire regularly here. Candidates with hands-on leasing experience, familiarity with Yardi or MRI software, and knowledge of the Houston rental market tend to move fastest through hiring.
Which companies hire assistant property managers in Houston?
Companies currently hiring assistant property managers in Houston include Avenue5 Residential, MAA, and Hines, per current listings on Migrate Mate as of August 2026. Houston's market includes a mix of large national property management firms, locally headquartered real estate companies, and institutional investors managing high-rise and garden-style communities across the metro.
Are there remote assistant property manager jobs in Houston?
Yes, though remote work is uncommon in this role because most responsibilities require on-site presence, including unit inspections, vendor coordination, and resident relations. About 35% of assistant property manager openings tied to Houston are remote or hybrid as of August 2026, and those positions tend to involve administrative, reporting, or compliance functions rather than daily property operations.
How can I get an assistant property manager job in Houston with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry point in Houston is a leasing consultant role at a multifamily community, where you build direct exposure to property operations, resident management, and lease compliance. Large apartment operators in areas like Memorial, the Heights, and Midtown frequently hire entry-level leasing staff and promote from within. Strong customer service skills, basic knowledge of property management software, and willingness to work weekends give candidates a clear edge in Houston's competitive rental market.
