Role Description
This is a full-time, on-site Estate Planning Attorney position based in Cranston, Rhode Island. We are seeking an attorney with 1-2+ years of experience in estate planning, probate, and trust administration who is passionate about helping families protect what matters most.
The attorney will manage matters from initial consultation through completion while working collaboratively with attorneys, legal staff, the Chief Operating Officer, and referral partners. Responsibilities
- Meet with clients to evaluate their estate planning goals and develop customized legal strategies.
- Draft and review wills, revocable and irrevocable trusts, powers of attorney, healthcare directives, deeds, and other estate planning documents.
- Handle probate and estate administration matters from commencement through closing.
- Manage trust administration matters, including advising fiduciaries and communicating with beneficiaries.
- Prepare and file probate pleadings, petitions, inventories, accountings, and related court documents.
- Attend probate court hearings as necessary.
- Draft deeds and oversee trust funding and asset transfers.
- Conduct title searches and assist with estate- and trust-related real estate transactions.
- Perform legal research and remain current on Rhode Island and Massachusetts estate planning laws.
- Communicate professionally with clients, financial advisors, accountants, financial institutions, and courts.
- Accurately record billable time and manage cases using legal practice management software.
- Collaborate with attorneys, paralegals, and administrative staff to provide exceptional client service.
- Work closely with the Chief Operating Officer
Qualifications
- Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited law school.
- Active license to practice law in Rhode Island.
- Massachusetts admission preferred or willingness to obtain admission.
- Minimum of 1-2 years of experience in estate planning, probate, and trust administration.
- Strong knowledge of estate planning, probate, trusts, trust administration, succession planning, and estate settlement.
- Excellent legal drafting, analytical, research, and organizational skills.
- Outstanding written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to independently manage multiple client matters while maintaining exceptional attention to detail.
- Experience with legal practice management software preferred.
